G'day all, I don't beleive there are many members yet but I'll just take a moment out to introduce myself.
My name is Dean and live in Sydney, Australia but don't let that fool you. I'm a nice bloke (......really I am), and my forte is in Aircrew Losses of the RAAF which I have been researching now for 6 years. My ultimate aim is to have this work published (but time will tell). This work is similar to RAF Bomber Command Losses by W.R. Chorley (although it wasn't until two-three years after I started that I saw my first book by Chorley).
What does this have to do with the RNZAF? Well, many RNZAF personnel died along side RAAF members during WWII so to really do honour to those RAAF members killed in 39-45 I must therefore also honour their friends and brothers whom were members of other forces who died with them. Nowhere more so is this important than in England during this time.
Anyway, feel free to contact me anytime about anything.
Thanks Dean

Hi, well done Dave in setting up this forum.
I'm a regular viewer and occasional poster from the Flypast forum, based in the UK. I was lucky enough to spend nearly 3 weeks touring NZ last year, and fell in love with the country immediately. I'm a big historic avation fan and was impressed by the passion and pride shown by all the guys at the museums and collections in NZ. Hope the forum goes well and hope I can contribute something of use from this side of the planet !

Hi Guys,
Ivan Prince here from Auckland.
I've been working on Darren Crick's NZ Serials page for the last 18 months or so. Also have always had an interest in the RNZAF, I guess living just across the harbour from Hobsonville and Whenuapai all my life has helped !!
Cheers.

Hi Guys, Ive just signed up as well, I'm a mate of Daves who happens to be very interested in RNZAF stuff. I am a Cambridge bloke so the various history things are of great interest.I have a background in aircraft engineering (Including a whole 3 weeks in the RNZAF!!!) and Im currently building my own homebuilt aircraft (my own design). I build 1/72 scale models and hope to collect an example of every type of RNZAF aircraft - some of my models were on display at the RNZAF reunion last year. so thats me - lets all support this excellent forum. Great work Dave.

Hi Bruce, and welcome. I'm interested to hear more about your aircraft you are building. It's been my dream to build myself an aircraft and I've done a lot of research into kits. I've been strongly considering a 7/8's Nieuport 12 kit at present. While I don't have any formal engineering qualifications, I've built and raced motorcycles over the years and currently have a business I'm building, around carbon-fibre and aluminium furniture.
Cheers Chris

Hello Dave and everyone else. My name is Don Smith and I'm a Kiwi living in Wellington and a regular contributor to the Flypast forum. My aviation interest is primarily the strategies, tactics, aircraft and men of RAF Bomber Command and the Luftwaffe nachtjagd. This all comes from childhood interest in the aircraft and the tall stories (think Commando comics) maturing over time as I did into a serious interest in both sides of that battle. Then more recently finding I had a step-family link to an RNZAF airman who served for RAF Bomber Command and lost his life on the Peenemunde raid in 1943. There's a fantastic story to tell there, but for various reasons it can't be told just yet. Well done Dave for creating this site and forum and for everything you're doing to preserve the memory of Cambridge's contribution - it's brilliant. cheers Don

Hi Don, I am so glad to see you here. Mmm, Commando Comics. That brings back some memories. I think I still have a few, I found one recently and read it. It wasn't too bad, drawing-waise (Hurricanes and Beaufighters) and the stories were inspiring too as a kid. Recently I picked up one of those old 1920's boy's books called "Blackie's Boys Annual". It is about three inches thick and packked to the gunnels with stories of Empire, duty, Cowboys and Indians and aviation - most of the stuff that no-one writes anymore as it's not PC to inspire boys to greatness any more. I bought it because the spine has a cool as sketch of a pilot, or in those days an 'aviator' on it so it looks good on the bookshelf. But I can't help wondering, did the boy who originally got this book for Christmas in December 1929 (his name is inscribed as Francis Santon Young, Form II, Parewai School, Dec. 1929, Teacher J.S. Daniell) ever go onto greatness. Perhpas he was a fighter pilot in the RNZAF, a commander of men. Who knows. I'd love to find out. I am rambling now... Anyway mate, welcome aboard.

Hello from Switzerland I am an aviation historian specialized in to North American P-51 and its variants, including the P-82. For many years I have built up a Database on the entire Mustang production with as much data and information to each individual airframe as possible; in addition to that I maintain a vast library and photo archive related to the Mustangs and its use all over the world during war, peace, air racing and as civilian sports-planes. Please also have a look at my website: www.swissmustangs.chI do have a number of RNZAF P-51 photographs in my collection I am willing to share. I am looking forward to having interesting discussions and exchange of knowledge. Cordially Martin / Swiss Mustangs

Ooh, Martin, please do share some RNZAF Mustang photos with us, we'd love that. I have just started a new thread on them incidentaly, in the postwar section, so that would be an ideal place.
Do you know of any coloured RNZAF photos of P51D's? I've never seen any, but it was the 1950's so there may be some around.
Cheers mate
