just a little bit. wonder what happened to the NES 12 parachutes, apart from having 12 month servicings, they also have a life where after they are turned into supply chutes. Don, you might be getting a letter for a special 2 year contract to go back behind the fence and fix these beasts, name your price All the seat safety equipment including the parachute and life raft will be time expired now, not to mention many of the ejection system carts and ROCATs. The lead time for them (if you can still buy them!) will be at least 12 months. Mate, I would love to work on them again, but somehow I doubt they will be interested in paying me what I earn now, let alone a bit more to entice me!

what happened after 2001 with regards the A4 stores. i take it parts that can be used on other a/c were put into the general pool of parts aval but parts particular to the A4, they were............. I no thing emegency parachutes, NES12, MBEU etc were 10 years from date of manufacture

yes it would be different in the pool than out at sea. this could have been a great decision for base welfare to have installed a wave pool on base.

yes i was in charge of the AK Liferaft bay when they introduced the new radios. Paid too much as well. and they just sit there untill something like this happens. Have time to get in some rations out of the pack.

It's sad, hearing that they'll go, but I'm sadder to know that the Macchis are too. I don't really remember much of the skyhawks flying, that was so long ago, but dad kept flying the macchis until recently. He'd fly over school at lunchtime to say 'hi'.

I no thing emegency parachutes, NES12, MBEU etc were 10 years from date of manufacture Initially all of the A-4 and Macchi spares and test equipment were quarantined and kept together as part of the sale package, even those that were common with other RNZAF aircraft like the radios, IFF, TACAN, Oxy regulator were off limits to 3/5/6/40 Sqns. I'm not sure if this is still the case.

Question. Did they ever fix the CFG's-constantly failing generators. I used to NDT the circuit board mounts and they were cracking. I believe the generators had a 20Hr MTBF rate. When we did the KAHU upgrade we lost our nuclear capability. I liked going through the weapons prep manuals seeing how to prep the nuclear weapons. We also lost the search light, with KAHU. The pilots were happy with that. I won't tell you what were in the first two frames of the film when we fitted the cameras.
