It certainly does! That's why I mentioned Mr Greys example as that is, indeed, a Pearl Harbor survivor.
I had no idea there were separate teams as such, but that makes sense :-)

They do help each other out when needed but they basically have teams concentrating on each aircraft.

Interesting to see cowlings on the port engine on the Mossie.

Yes, definitely gives it a more complete look. In the last pic, you can just see what looks like an original under-piece with air scoop lying on the floor.

Thanks for sharing! Did you get any pics of the new addition, Mosquito T.III TV959?

Hi Zac, yes, although it looks very "original" and a bit neglected at the moment, especially after looking at the nice shiney new one. Apparently it will fly, but the comment one of the Avspecs guys made was "come back in four years". Cheers, Chris

Aha, good point! So I'm guessing you'll be rated in no time, Ryan? You have a fair amount in DH twins by now...?
Thanks for the photo, I love Mossies and it's great to see another entering a new stage in its history.
So, my suggestion is that KA114 is ready in time for an appearance at Wanaka, then crated up and home in the US in time for Oshkosh?

Yes, you can see Doug Brooker's Spitfire flying most days there apparently, and it lives in the Avspecs hangar so no surprise you spotted it there. Nice shots.
Four years is a short time frame for a Mossie restoration, but this one is in much better condition than the first one was.

I was told a couple of days ago both wheel assemblies are now fitted and work continues on the systems installation.
The Mk XIV Spitfire is now also being worked on and was having wings fitted last week.

Hi guys
yep, I was in there on Tuesday arvo. Great to catch up with the guys again.
Dave you are right the u/c legs were in (no locks etc) also the new cowls were being worked on as well as the final details in the bomb bay. She is looking great!
The Spitfire was up on jacks with her wings fitted also.
TV959,s fuse was stripped for woodwork inspection.
All n all a hive of activity.
Cheers Anthony

Fellow forumites!! Is it a bad thing that I'm more excited about seeing the Spitfire XIV fly again than the Mosquito?
I mean don't get me wrong, I appreciate the significnce of the Mosquito but it's a Spitfire with that beautiful long Griffon nose, with that hint of power and aggression behind those gorgeous lines....what more can I say?! ;D

Fellow forumites!! Is it a bad thing that I'm more excited about seeing the Spitfire XIV fly again than the Mosquito? Nope. I would love to see a Mosquito fly, but that MkXIV was easily my favourite of any Spitfire I have seen fly in NZ. Looking forward very much to it's return.

I personally would much rather see the Mosquito take to the air. I have never seen a Mosquito flying, nor a Mk XIV Spitifre either, so I'm looking forward to both immensely. But the Mossie will be something unique and very special.

The Mosquito for me because of it's rarity. However the Mk.XIV Spitfire is a magnicent machine and was by far the Lufwaffe's fighter pilots most feared late war fighter.
