That last photo was taken a few seconds before the Vampire made a left turn towards the Aero Club and it's jet exhaust blew the holding cone away at E1 (just out of shot to the left). Someone (I assume it was Fire Rescue) returned the cone to its rightful spot shortly after.

That Vampire shot was taken by me by the way, with Mike's camera. It was just taxiing off the main runway and I took it from behind where the Dakota came to rest.

Looking north as we hover up the runway And the other way, we followed a small plane that was taking off ahead of us. It was really neat to be in the front seat of an aircraft flying along the runway, usually I'm in the back in an Air New Zealand cabin. So quite a different view for a non-pilot like me. A bird's eye view of the open day

These lovely shots were taken by Mike, which is very impressive as he has just a small point and click camera.

Thanks for posting those photos. It is always funny to see yourself in someone else's photos when you didn't realise they were being taken. Kind of like a Facebook for flyers!

I was photographing the spray and only realised it was you in the foreground after I took the first shot. So I zoomed in the the 'forum special' shot.
