Search underway for missing Air Force iroquois helicopter Police confirmed a search for the chopper was underway this morning near Pukerua Bay, north of Wellington. Few details were available but it's understood it was one of three iroquois helicopters travelling to Wellington. Military helicopter crashes Breaking 8:22 AM Sunday Apr 25, 2010 WELLINGTON - An Air Force Iroquois helicopter has crashed at Pukerua Bay, north of Wellington, this morning. Police said the crash happened about 6.45am. Air crash kills three Three people are dead after an Air Force iroquois helicopter crashed into a farm north of Wellington. Police confirmed a search for the chopper was launched shortly before 7am. It was found on a farm near Pukerua Bay, north of Wellington. Four people were onboard. A Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman said three people were dead, and a fourth was taken to hospital in a serious to critical condition. Few details were available but it's understood it was one of three iroquois helicopters travelling to Wellington. I was just watching the Maori channel when the news came on about the crash. Very sad on this day of remembrance, my thoughts are with the families and RNZAF.

It is now being reported that the survivor of the crash has died in Wgton Hospital.

The report of the third death has been strongly denied bu the RNZAF. "Serious but stable, not life threatening".
More poor reporting I'm afraid.
I have just returned from the Hamilton Anzac 10am service where my 12yo daughter presented her schools wreath. Air Vice-Marshal Lintott was present at the early service but returned to "work" to assist in this mornings accident.

What a sad day for the RNZAF, especially on such an already solemn day.
