Yes they had one with a small 'A' frame lifting frame added on top of the water tanks. Arrived a runner but was allowed to rust away out in the open at Meola Rd as it was not of interest to the fire or military sections. Not 100% sure it survived.

A number of these tanker units passed over to the old forest service fire squads and eventually two of them came into the possession of the Fire Services Historical Society at Ferrymead. However after some years the committee of that society deemed them to not be in their aegis as their collection was headed down a simply NZ Fire Service path and so they were moved on, I'm not able to recollect whereto. They were similar but distinctly different in appearances so I think you'll find that there were at least two variants. cheers Three variants actually - fire engine, tanker and pumper.

Quad pumper under way. The cross frame will mount a former WW2 emergency water pump trailer with the tow frame cut off. fullsizeoutput_1baf by tankienz, on Flickr

I've decided to start the year by finishing some of my numerous underway but stalled builds. So almost a year has passed since my last update on NZ Forest Service appliance trio with little progress on the pumper and tanker but I have made a start on the final of the trio, the fire engine version. There has be good progress on another Kiwi swords to plowshares builds, a GMC logging truck and GMC chassis based log jinker. B3E0B2BE-463D-47AD-A84B-827E48917B26_1_201_a by tankienz, on Flickr
