Anyone know the whereabouts of Super Cub ex- ZK-BTC?? Last seen in Aeromotives storage hangar (across other side of Steele Rd from main office/hangar). Aparantly it was sold by Aeromotive 1-2 years ago after being stored there for over 10 years.

I cant answer your question however I am interested in this. I worked at Aeromotive 1996 - 1999 and I can definitely say that there wasnt a cub in the storage hangar at that time. I spent a week or two clearing it out and re-stacking the various wrecks to accomodate the inventory of Westland Wasp parts that came through the shop at that time. there were plenty of Cessna and Cherokee carcasses but I'm sure I would have remembered a Cub as I was (and I still am) pretty keen on classic rag and tube taildraggers. BTC must have gone into the store hangar after 1999.

Hi Bruce - That would be about right. I saw it in there in 2003 while trying to negotiate a purchase. Couldn’t quite close the deal at that time unfortunately.

BTC was the ex-Glen Murray Topdressing Cub that spent years (from the mid-1960s thru to the early 70s at least) sitting unused in the large hangar at Tauranga covered in bird droppings. Owner from 11/4/1967 was B W Gordon, Hamilton and the registration was cancelled 17/12/1991.
Last time I saw it there several important bits had been removed.

Strangely enough, I was thinking of launching this thread just a couple of days ago....
I reckon BTC was in the big old hangar perhaps as late as the early 90s - definitely there very late 80s, and as Peter says with quite a few bits missing.
I don't recall whether the hopper was still fitted - think not.
On a similar subject, what about Pawnee 150s BOQ ( advertised as a project in Wings a couple of years ago) and BOU?

Gosh, I remember old BTC, Quite like the old super cubs. Always used to have a look around it in the big old hangar at Mt Maunganui, Last time I saw it was in 1998, Parked up near the Fletcher if I remember, must've been in there for at least 30 odd years. I seem to remember the parts of it gradually coming off over the years. Always thought they were going to restore it.

Might there be anyone out there with any history or photos of super cub ZK BOY? Cheers

Apart from an early life in Hawkes Bay, ZK-BOY has been a deep-South aircraft with what appears to be a considerable history in the venison recovery business with Tony Hawker and others. No photograph in my files, unfortunately.

Great thanks that has filled in the gaps. My name will be on the bottom next, hope to have her in the air next year after a spell of 16 years. I would like to find some old photos from her early days, someone anyone?

I've got a group shot (colour slide) taken At Bridge Pa 8/1/62 and I know she's in it but may not be identifiable.
I've got a mate scanning my slides for me, and I'll post them here - watch this space!

Great thanks for these shots, looking forward to seeing the slides, might have to cart a few more deer before the venison tray comes out!
Cheers

Hi all
Has anyone have a history on BNX which is currently based at Rangiora. I know it was a topdresser and did venison, but don't know where or when. Any photos would be great. Thanks

BOY was reskinned by Keith Beale sometime in the early 90's at Gore. Didn't do much after that and ended up at Wanaka I believe
