Excellent!! Thanks for the photo. Are you sure about the colour? My extremely foggy memory remembers it as orange and white (with lots of spots of primer from repairs). They really are a cool looking machine aren't they

Have a look on Google, put in Cessna 188 turbo, there's also a bit about a similar Piper Brave, perhaps the old Waggon has got a new life. isc

And speaking of DPA, how low can you go? Doing a spot of recreational water skiing! Lake Taupo, circa Dec 1988.

And another shot from higher up. The full yarn is in my book with a little old lady poking her nose in!

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I can see the love for these aircrafts is all over the world. Anyway, what bring me here was this post from "amec", the rebuild of EJL I got a similar problem with my dad's A188B Ag Truck. He had an engine problem on take off, fortunately he was unhurt, and walking on his own. As you can see BGN got serious damage: imagehostThe plan is to rebuild this beautiful aircraft, I dont want to see it in that condition no more, practically with this airplane my dad fed all his family. "amec" is there any way you can help me with a structure jig? Cheers Some more photos for those who are interested.. EJL was the second to last (DHX being the last) Ag wagon to be completely rebuilt by us. It had an engine failure and forced landed onto a ridge line. Ripped a leg out, damaged wings etc. Was transported to us for repairs, and received more damage on ferry crossing, when a truck full of pumpkins collapsed on top of it. Aircraft in storage awaiting rebuild. Aircraft behind is CSM part.way trough rebuild. And tube structure used to repair EJL. Tube structure in jig. Aircraft finished awaiting customer pickup, 1995 Start to finish took about 9 months, although aircraft was out of the air for a couple of years. Most of the last crashed Ag wagons seemed to have had a problem getting airborne. This was due to trying to compete with fletchers etc and overloading and pushing the aeroplane to it's limits. We fitted a lot of STOL kits and even vortex generator kits to improve take off performance. This helped considerably.

Alright folks, from my research I’ve identified four AgWags that were with Wanganui Aero Work: DKG, DME, DPU and JCR. So I have two questions: 1) were there any others? and B) who else has photos they can share? I’m sad to see many have disappeared from the thread thanks to Photobucket.

Being mainly grounded at the moment, I l, looked out my little collection of Rex Aviation's Flight Time magazines from July 1965 to November 1066, these have a good introduction of the C-188, from testing in USA to assembly and starting work in NZ, exciting days. isc (ex Rex Dunedin)

Fieldair bought them out and the Husky was sold to Australia.

I can name you three Zac - CQL CQU and CQX. Can't give you their life histories (I bet Delticman can) but: CQL ended her life while with WAW and her demise was written up in an early "Flight Safety" mag CQU ended up in the tragic pile of Agwagonry at Feilding CQX ended up in Havelock North and IIRC her final achievement was to hit a dunny on (failed) take-off Cheers

In the 1970s I did a magneto change on an Agwagon at Te Kuiti airfield. The pilot was Dick Powdrill. That was one of the CQs.
