Last I heard was that c/n 290 (ZK-FTW/'607') and c/n 291 (ZK-FTX/'608') were stored Jan-00 thro’ May-06. I guess these two could be resuscitated. Of the others, two have been onsold into Australia, one to the Nakhon Sawan Kaset Museum and the other three have crashed.

Would be interesting exercise to figure out how many 400hp Fletchers are still in use,the numbers must be dwindling after 50 odd years of service.

From memory the NZ government sent some gift Fletchers to Bangladesh in the 1970's. This may have been discussed before here, but I wonder if any have survived.

Well at work we have three 400hp Fletchers (CMK, EGK, EUH), but the Crescos are definitely in the majority. Shame, cos I just love the roar of the Fletcher!

I was told behind a hangar that one large Fletcher operator got a quote to replace the whole fleet with new Crescos.........but the Cresco price was a bit steep.

So does anyone have any drawings/photos/diagrams of these Pegasus aircraft? I'd love to see them.
Also I don't really remember the Fletcher Falcon WAW had for a while - any chance someone has photos of this aircraft, ZK-LTF?
And, just to make things interesting, how about the Fieldair V8 Fletcher, which never flew?
Gotta love the versatility of our favourite baby!

There is a diesel V8 being installed into a fletcher fuse at Gore.

Is there now? I heard rumours at work of a diesel V8, would be interesting to see more. Phoenix Aviation, I guess?
Anyone got pics of the Fieldair V8? Anybody?

theres been plenty of alternative power plants for Fletchers but no ones been able to sort out the bit between the motor and the propeller.Superair spent a lot of $$$ trying and flagged it away.

Got a Sep-Oct 2000 copy of CAA News online with a Fletcher article: Super Air V8 and Walter, Garrett "Stallion", WAW's "Falcon", Fieldair V8. Of course James' CTZ, and was there a Robertson effort too? And then of course the Crusader too...

Robertsons had 2 turbo Fletchers BHQ and CCY.Peter may oblige with a photo.. ZK-EMO was attempting to become a FFU24-550, with the Chevy motor. It ended up fitted with a Walter with Venture Aviation at Taupo and finally Becks at Mosgiel. Robertsons turbo-fletchers were ZK-BHQ and ZK-CYY, see rnzaf.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=civil&action=display&thread=4515&page=1

ZK-BHQ was built as an Fu-24 c/n 19, converted to Fletcher F.1160 c/n 2001 fitted with a AiResearch Garrett TPE331 turbine. First flight with this installation 12Feb1968. The photographs were taken at Rukuhia soon after this flight. The aircraft had a short life, crashing near Taumaranui 13Aug68. Run up: Some sort of test pitot head was fitted: The office:

Some of the initial design work for fitting the V-8 to the Fletcher was done by Pat Monk in the early-mid 1990's, I guess around 1994-95. I remember him telling me and Dad about the work he was doing. He was contracted to one of the ag companies but I don't recall which. He mentioned there was another one fitting a different type of V-8 to one of their's as a prototype too. It's a while back so I'm a little cloudy on it as I thought Fletchers were shere boredom back then. This forum has taught me a lot about ag aircraft I must admit. not as boring as I'd thought.
Does anyone here know which aircraft it was that Pat was working on with the V-8 engine? It was being done at Rukuhia.

That very well could have been the Super Air V8, ZK-BHG. There are two pics at airliners.net by Colin Zuppicich here and here. Owen Poland - then with TV3 - did a report on the project for the news back in 2001, and you can find it on youtube: Thanks for the shots of EMO! The CAA News report has a fairly wide-angle shot, you can tell it has a new cowl, and see that its all complete. Says that they stopped the project whilst doing endurance tests. So it never flew, but ah well.

Interesting,in Peters photo of BHQ the exhaust from the turbine runs through the floor of the cockpit.I suppose it have kept your feet warm on a frosty morning, but they must get nearly white hot when the engines running.

Thanks Zac, yes that could be the aircraft. I recall now that Super Air was one of the two comapnies he told me about but I'm not sure if that is his development or the one that was in 'opposition' to him at the time. I seem to recall Pat was working with Dave Roberts on the project, who was also a PAC design team member. I'll have to ask Dave what he recalls.

Will be interesting to see what you find out! The more knowledge the merrier.
Does anyone have further images of EMO with the V8 installation, showing the cowl etc? As I say the only photo I have (besides those PG posted) is very small and blurry.
