Restoration of CTX is underway. Dave Patrick at Southair is repairing the tube frame ready for reskinning. He was actually involved in its original assembly from new (apprentice at the time). Funny how things go!

Bound to be snags but guess that is all part of the process. Fortunately the nature of Cropmaster build means many parts are relatively simple to reproduce. Anyone out there with photos of CTX I would love to have copies. Currently I only have 1, which has pride of place on my screen saver!!!!. Went up to Lindsay McNichols place yesterday and he very kindly showed me all his collection. Second time sitting in CPW cockpit. Last time almost 20 years ago as a trainee pilot. Can't wait for the day I can get one airborn.

Some may disagree with me, but I have to say I think the Cropmaster is an unusually good looking aeroplane for an ag aircraft. Mind you I also think Fletchers look good so some may say I'm unwell. Never been a fan of the Air Tractor/Pawnee/Agwagon style though.

I agree. Put retractable gear on it, up the HP and could have been a WW2 fighter

I found the Cropy to be a very nice aircraft to fly, could get tail heavy with 2 drivers in the rear seat on ferry.

Good Afternoon Everyone. Ivan was my grandfather, I can remember doing many hours in the Yeoman.
I may have commented on this post before (cant remember) but would be happy to supply some photos of the plane being converted in our back shed at home.

Has there been much progress to report on CLW's progress?

Only one currently airworthy yes, couple more maybe to fly in future hopefully. Definitely one of the better looking ag aeroplanes.

In light of recent news about this machine's owner, who was the pilot?

Referring to: Thanks Ryan. I have asked Peter Layne to put a trace on CLW. I don't recall now receiving Peter Lewis' request, sorry, however if my memory serves me right the Auckland Gliding Club did consider having it converted into a towplane supporting Pawnee ZK-CEB which still soldiers on about 50 years later. CLW was parked up in the mid 1970s near the old Teachers' Training College buildings adjacent to the area where N Z Warbirds are now established. Looking further into this thread I see: Feb 6, 2012 at 1:53pm Quote Post by croppie on Feb 6, 2012 at 1:53pm CPW is about to have a new CofA and will hopefully be attending Wanaka Warbirds in 2012. CLW is currently in storage with Lindsay McNicol near Oamaru. Question now is, where is CLW. Could it be said it has "come a cropper"! Sorry, I couldn't resist saying that. Comments anyone on its situation?

The first Cropmaster in NZ, ZK-CCP was flown from Sydney to Wellington in a Qantas Connie. First flight date in Wellington was 05Oct1962.
Further to previous post, ZK-CLW might reside at Omaka.
