Yep,sadly all those Fletchers are gone now Another piece of useless information - no ex-Thames ATD Fletcher is now airworthy. Apart from ZK-BWV (up the pole at Gisborne) every Fletcher ever owned by them has been destroyed in a crash by now. Bad karma?

Can anyone shed any light on the expected future for Transavia PL12 Airtruk ZK-CJU. This aircraft languished outside at Ardmore for years and years and there was speculation a couple of years ago that a crowd in the USA had bought it for a museum display. It was also listed on Trade Me back in 2006: Designation Transavia PL-12 Airtruk Registration ZK-CJU Serial # 1239 Total Hours flown 2523 Engine I0-520-D Continental 300hp Hours remaining 500 This versitile one owner aircraft will provide a lot of pleasure to a private owner. Its unusual configuration is a great crowd draw card and crowd pleaser at air shows. Glider towing, two at a time, adds to its versatile use. The Airtruk was used in the film Mad Max. This single cockpit Airtruk can carry two passengers in a rear facing cabin.
This aircraft requires some work before a C of A could be issued. Otherwise in going order.
Start price: As is where is $30,000.
However, the aircraft has re-entered the register (cancelled on 23Jan91 and re-registered 08May08) to a Mr AH Ruddenklau of Waimate.
So I can only presume the aircraft was trucked south (its been absent from its parking spot at Ardmore for several weeks) and is now in the South Island. So, does anyone know its plans?

Yep I can shed some light on the future of ZK-CJU the Transavia PL-12 Airtruk that sat at Ardmore for years. I purchased the aircraft back in the beginning of April and it's since been dismantled and trucked to Waimate where it is currently been stored. The plan is to rebuild this aircraft over the next twelve months or so and return it to its original glory. The aircraft is one of the last in the country and is after all part of New Zealand's history. The aircraft will I'm hoping be capable of doing a days work once the rebuild is finished but I would like to see it back in the public eye at airshows and other events around the country.
I'm currently hunting for any information on spare parts that might still be hiding out there, history of both the PL-11 and PL-12, photos of the fleet working in New Zealand and anyone that was involved with the type over the years that they were in services along with anyone else thats interested.
Would be very grateful to hear from anyone with any contacts.

Welcome to the forum Airtruk. What a neat project you've taken on, to return a rare and odd-yet-interesting aviaition workhorse to the skies. I look forward to seeing it in the air. I've only ever seen Airtruks parked up and never in the air. Please keep us posted on the progress of your restoration project.
