R I P Bruce Gavin It is with much sadness I inform you of the passing of Aviation Historical Society of New Zealand Inc. member Bruce Gavin of Matamata who was a regular attendee of the Aviation Historical Society meetings in Tauranga. He joined the society in 1972. Here is an announcement by Steve Lowe on his 3rd level airlines blog 3rdlevelnz.blogspot.com/2021/05/bruce-gavin-rip.html#comment-formTo give an indication of Bruce's commitment to studying airline history, have a look at all of those binders on the bookcase behind him. Are there two more shelves below and another bookcase alongside! I'm pleased to say they are now in the safe hands of Steve Lowe. I feel privileged to have co-authored with him, Richard Waugh and Graeme McConnell "Taking Off - Pioneering small airlines of New Zealand 1945 -1970" and provided assistance in the production of his own book "Heartland High Flyer". Funeral details will follow.

I see LAC James George Sherbourne above, and note that 5 SU = 5 Servicing Unit rather than Support Unit.
Also under date 29th April spotted Sgt Eric Milton Whitworth. I remember him from the very early days of the RNZAF Museum, in fact before it was actually a Museum, just the Wigram Historical Centre (that is, unless my memory is failing, which sometimes does happen). Just checked the post again, he left the service in 1986, so opening of Museum still almost a year away - Whew! Memory more or less intact! David D
