I am so sad to hear the news that my good mate Richard Stowers has passed away. This is a huge loss. He was such a great chap, a true gentleman, and a very knowledgeable historian. He wrote so many excellent NZ military history books, including books on Cobber Kain and Bomber Barron. He was also a forum member here. He used to live here in Cambridge and I saw him often back when we were both of the Armistice in Cambridge committee. He was always great to chat with, and very generous with his time. I shall miss him. 🙁 RIP Richard. STOWERS, Richard William: Passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday 20th April 2021, aged 69 years. Cherished husband of Gill for 39 years. Loved father and father-in-law of James & Geli, Craig & Benna, Nick, Scott and Amy & Ryan. Loving pops to newborn Izzy. 'Always in our hearts' A celebration of Richard's life will be held at the Hamilton Park Crematorium Chapel, 395 Morrinsville Road, Newstead, on Tuesday 27th April, at 1.00pm. In lieu of flowers donations to Motor Neuron Disease Foundation or Hospice Waikato is preferred and can be left at the service. A special thank you to everyone who has been involved in Richards care. All correspondence to the Stowers family C/- PO Box 276, Hamilton 3240. I understand that to follow on from his books on Kain and Barron, Richard was working on a similar work about 'Mac' McGregor. This was first intimated a few years ago now, but nothing appeared. I wonder if the onset of his debilitaring illness prevented him from continuting the work. Does anyone know what is happening to the material that he had gathered for this project or if someone else is carrying on with it? Errol

I am not certain, but I think you are right that he gave up on it due to his illness.
