Wallace's 453259 was not a WWII RNZAF number, nor is there any evidence that he was issued with more than one number in the RNZAF. Perhaps he was in the Army before or after RNZAF service? Errol

A87032; Born Wallasey, Cheshire, England, 26 Aug 1941; British Army 7 yrs, dates unknown; RNZAF 5 Aug 1975 to 8 Jan 1993; Firemaster. Chief of Air Staff Commendation (1985): For outstanding zeal and devotion to duty.Citation Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (QB1992): Warrant Officer Ashurst joined the RNZAF as a fireman in 1975. He had previously served seven years as a fireman in the British Army, during which time he saw active service in Aden and Cyprus, and he spent a four year period as a civilian fireman. During the past 16 years Warrant Officer Ashurst has served in the Crash/Fire Sections at RNZAF Bases Wigram and Auckland, and he has completed two tours at No 3 TTS as an Instructor. KAVANAGH, William Sean (Bill): Passed away suddenly at home on September 23, 2021, aged 59 years. Bill was a beloved father to Victoria Louise and William George. Beloved son of the late Ellen Sarah, brother to Andrew and Eden and a respected friend and colleague to many. Born and raised in England's Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Bill moved to New Zealand in 1997 where he continued his career in the prison service. Bill lived a life of service to the community and his colleagues through his careers in England with the Royal Air Force after leaving the R.A.F. he joined the British prison service and for the 23 years at Ara Poutama Corrections. He was a big hearted man who, as CANZ Union Representative, was known for his strong advocacy for staff and his desire to do the best for people working and residing in Canterbury prisons. We will be celebrating Bill's life this week. Due to Covid restrictions, attendance at Bill's service will be by invitation only.
