Died on December 29, 2022 in an accident, aged 64 years. Much loved Dad and father-in-law of Lisa and Paul, Dell and Hamish, Tim and Jenna, Chris and Annelyse. Loved Grandad of Joel, Jed and Zoe, Noah, Arlo, Florence and Forest, and Talulah. Much loved (possibly favourite) son of Trish and the late Michael. Treasured brother of Julie, Nigel, JD and Andy, brother-in-law to Annemieke, and uncle to Mabel. A special friend to many through all the years of his life. Our warmest thanks to Dad's mates, and his community in the wider Blenheim area for all of their support and care at this difficult time, especially as we travel from out of town.

The Royal New Zealand Air Force will be honouring the late Max Collett, New Zealand's last WW2 Spitfire pilot, with a Spitfire flypast at the venue for his Memorial Service on Friday 6th January.

The service is to be held at the Beth Shan Funeral Home in Georges Drive in Napier starting at 10:30. The Spitfire will depart Ohakea at 10:50 and is expected to be overhead the venue at the conclusion of the service around 11:30 to 11:40 before returning to Ohakea. This is all subject to weather conditions on the day.

Stood out on the street, Spitfire flyover followed by Moths ZK-ADT & ZK-BMY.

I haven't seen him for years but noted that he was on the Wellington AHSNZ circulation list. I've always been surprised that (as far as I know) his massive collection of photos have never appeared anywhere. IIRC his particular interest was Ag Aviation, Ray - like one or two others around here
