WAGSTAFF,David John (Wavey):
On April 6, 2023, David passed away peacefully with family at his side. Dearly loved by his family Olwyn, Andrae, Maree, Darvey, and Charlotte and his friends. Will be sadly missed leaving a hole in our hearts. He was passionate about his time working for NAC/Air NZ for 40 plus years and was affectionately known as 'Wavey'. Messages to the Wagstaff family, c/- PO Box 111-01 Sockburn Christchurch 8443. Flowers respectively declined, however donations to Parkinson's Research in Dave's name can be made at his service. Join us to celebrate Dave's life by wearing bright colours in the Harewood Crematorium Chapel, Wilkinsons Road, Harewood, on April 13, 2023, at 2.30pm.
David visited Ferrymead only a few weeks back and presented us with real treasure trove of papers and artifacts from his time in Ground Services for NAC/AirNZ. We are now in possession of items relevant to the workings of a part of airline operations very much out of the public limelight.

CRAWLEY, Trevor John (TC). RNZAF D80250:
Trevor was a good friend of mine at Ohakea in the mid-1960's. For Xmas leave 1966/67 We did an anti-clockwise pub-crawl around the upper North Island coast line, sticking to coastal roads as much as possible. Ohakea, East coast, Bay of plenty, Coromandel Peninsular, Northland to Cape Reinga, then back down West coast to Ohakea. Trevor had a Mk II Zephyr which was "souped up" a bit with planed head and banana-branch exhaust. We lost contact after I left the mob, but I learned later he eventually worked for Opus International in Napier and then promoted to Opus in England.

I have just been informed the sad news that former RNZAF Mosquito and Vampire pilot, topdressing legend and Harvard owner Rod Dahlberg passed away this afternoon. He was in his 93rd year. Rod flew operationally in Cyprus. My understanding is there will be no funeral, following Rod's wishes. I was very fortunate to meet and interview him back in 2018,and I released that interview in 2020, here: cambridgeairforce.org.nz/WONZShow/2020/09/wonz-228-alistair-marshall-and-rod-dahlberg/RIP Rod.
