Indeed it is so utterly sad to have lost Sandy this way.
For those who don't see either of my facebook pages, I grew up next to Sandy, I was 6 when we moved in and my parents have been in there now for 28 years. Sandy was every bit as much of a character at home over the fence as he was at the AHC, MAC and other parts of Omaka and the aviation world he frequented.
Going home now wont quite be the same without having a chat with him.

Oh, that is sad to see Phil has passed away. He was one of the last Fleet Air Arm pilots who I've met still around. I am not sure if any are alive now.

Phil was a great mate of Frank Jarvis. I used to keep up with what was going on with Frank from Phil. I used to see Phil quite often at the Golf Club. Have known his daughter and son in law for years.

Phil was on the same course as the late Ian James of Cambridge (brother of Ossie James). They both joined the RNZN and went to England to train with the RN FAA, then went to the USA and trained with the US Navy. They were flying SNJ's at Corpus Christi when the war ended from what I remember.
