Have been away for a week, so just catching up. I do not know anything about Sam Sanson's time in the Air Force. He was a client of mine for many years when he farmed on South Kaipara Heads next to the Wioneke School. I also knew him well with the association of both of us in the Masonic Lodge.

Very sad, we have lost another Cambridge airman. Peter Hulse was a great chap. He served in the motorcycle dispatch rider section of the Cambridge Home Guard as a teenager, and then joined the RNZAF and trained to become a mechanic. He served in the Pacific servicing Venturas with No. 11 Servicing Unit and then he serviced Corsairs up there too. RIP mate.

Steve Evison was a pilot who served with No. 1 (GR) Squadron and No. 7 (GR) Squadron on Vildebeests/Vincents, then No. 1 (GR) Squadron, No. 3 (GR) Squadron and No. 4 (GR) Squadron on Hudsons. I'd tried to locate him in the past but never managed to track him down. He may well have been our last operational Vilde/Vincent pilot, and perhaps the last of the Hudson General Reconnaissance pilots too, as there are very few if any left.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten he was a Dauntless pilot too, another reason he'd have made an interesting interviewee.

Hi Dave - In reply to your question regarding survivors of "The Rangitane Boys" - I am the daughter of Alan Jones, RNZAF, who was taken prisoner-of-war following the shelling of the Rangitane by the Black Raider, as outlined by Errol Martyn. Following Dad's recent death on 16 March 2016, I understand that there is now only one of the NZRAF survivors still living, being Keith Shearer of Te Kuiti.
