Well so far this year we have had the following forum meet ups:
- The Subritzky Collection Visit in March - Classic Fighters Airshow in April - Christchurch Forum meet in April - Cambridge Forum Meet in May ... so we're doing well
- Coming up we have a Forum Meet at Ardmore on June 5th during the Warbirds Open Day - A possible Auckland Forum Meet (more formal) being considered for a few months time - And I think we need to have a forum meet in September at MOTAT to look at the newly opened super hangar then.
Sounds good. Any other suggestions for 2011?

Whereabouts will the meeting at Ardmore likely be?

Do you mean on June 5th?
This is not yet set in concrete but maybe Warbirds HQ?

At previous Warbirds Open Days, we were chased away from the good airside viewing possies by the late Peter Houghton... The best viewing of the actual flying was to be found at the Auckland Aero Club. Perhaps meet at the Warbirds HQ for viewing parked aircraft and then adjourn to the AAC for the flying displays...?

Food and coffee/beer also available adjacent to there (AAC)

Actually yes that sounds like the better place, Auckland Aero Club. That is what i meant to write actually and got mixed up.
I still don't know if I am going to get up there yet, but I'd like to as this sounds like it will be bigger and better than recent open days.

Largely yes. If I can find someone from here who's keen I'll be sweet.

Dave ... for this open day the practice displays have been reduced from 3 to 2 mainly because of the weather in June ... there will be 2 x 45min displays, while we are trying something different for the afternoon display we couldn't guarantee it would be bigger and better Something for you to bear in mind

I understand here will also be military vehicles and vintage cars etc to see though too. I didn't mean just the flying display, sorry.

After discussing the proposed idea of a bigger dedicated non-airshow related forum gathering in the Auckland area the ideas are now formulating into something quite promising.
Just a proposed outline and there's no guarantees this is how it will work out, but perhaps we can select a long weekend like Labour Weekend and hold a two day event. We could have a more formal even on the Saturday (a venue is under consideration right now) where we invite along WWII veterans and forum members, and there are guest speakers etc much like in Cambridge.
Then the following day for those who are keen to stay over we have a less formal day with a visit to MOTAT in the morning (I assume the Sunday of Labour Weekend will be a Live day?) and in the afternoon make a visit to Ardmore where we may see some flying and can visit a few aircraft and hangars there.
For many it will mean staying over in Auckland, but it could be a great weekend and include lots of aspects of what has already been suggested all rolled into one event.
What do people think? Shall we proceed with such a plan?

I plan to be at Ardmore Queens birthday if the boss hasn't arranged anything else. MoTaT for me in October would be better as I don't get back from Seattle till the 17 Sept so I might have missed out if you had arranged it then. Does anyone know yet when the new hangar will be open. Also I just checked up and the Rugby World cup final is on October 23 in Auckland which I think is Labour weekend. ;D we win or we loose and the country is in mourning.

Oh, sod having a forum meet in Auckland on Cup Final weekend then. Thanks for the heads up on that. The city will be in chaos with traffic and I'd rather be at home with my friends watching on TV when Carter scores the winning points than listening to people talk about aeroplanes.

The way it's going , all the top line players will be injured by the time the cup starts and it will be something like Buller taking on the world
