Mum and I have been going through boxes of old family slides today and I came across several aviation-related ones which I decided to capture with the digital camera, straight off the projection screen (simply as a reference so I know what's in the collection, in case I want to scan or print any properly). The result was quite good, so here are a selection of some more interesting ones. The model Solent at Motat The Lodestar at Motat, early 1980's I think The C47 at Motat, it looks real nice now, whereas the lovely Lodestar above looks awful now! This is NZ1099 I think, Ardmore, possibly 1990 Grumman Goose ZK-DFC "Cold Water Surf" in the sunset - the slide looks much better by the way than this photo The Turbo Fletcher prototype at Hamilton Airport (now in the Waikato Museum) One close to my heart, the East West airlines F27 that took me, Mum, Dad and my sister Shelley to Norfolk Island in April 1980 when I was 9. Some sort of agricultural aircraft (Piper Pawnee?) The Lodestar at Darton Field, Gisborne, 1983 And last but not least, the C47 at Mangaweka, just after it was erected in the 1970's-ish. Note the Europa service station, a slice of the past!

They are great Dave; thanks for posting them. I love the EastWest F27 and the Loadestar.

I can confirm the Harvard is NZ1099, and the photo would be taken (as with the Goose pic) at the Ardmore airshow early 1990, which I also attended. By the time I started at Gulf Aeronautics later the same year, 1099 was finished and living in our hangar. Th Ag aircraft is indeed a Pawnee - the location feels vaguely familiar - it wouldnt be Ruawai would it?

Interesting how goood the DC3 looks in the 70s. I remember when the lancaster first arrived at MOTAT in French markings i was lucky enough to have a "play" in it as a youngster. I wish they opened more often ...even if they charged a high surcharge?
