Hi peeps Here's my recently completed Hasegawa P-40M finished in the kit decals for Wairarapa Wildcat. This will hopefully be featured in an upcoming edition of Scale Aircraft Modelling. A question for the importers, why does NZ get the P-40M boxing that has the USAAF version on the box (and markings for NZ3072 as an option) whereas UK gets the one with NZ3072 on the box and a P-40E as an option - surely that would be a far better option for NZ as you could build almost any RNZAF P-40 from it. Cheers Mike A

Hi Mike
That is a really really nice build!! ;D ;D
I have to say (yes, it sounds biased) that RNZAF P 40's in this scheme or camo are the most prettiest/handsome out of any that served in the Pacific.
Thanks for sharing
Regards
Alan

Cheers Mike A That would be because when Hasegawa released the P-40M with the US version on the front, we knew there were markings for the RNZAF Kittyhawk inside so ordered 3 cartons. We did not know at the time, that a month later Hasegawa would release the exact same kit with NZ artwork on the cover. With 3 cartons, it was not economically sensible to go overboard on the same kit again (for a great number of reasons I won't discuss). We did order 10 of those (and Mr Galbraith has one), but funnily enough sold through all of them soon after they were brought in. We still have very good stocks of the US version which has the RNZAF markings included (and a very accurate rendition too), just not the cover artwork.

You throw the box away after you're done so what does it matter whether there's a pink elephant on the box ;D Unless you're one of those types who just hoards kits and never builds them
