Nelsons no 23 ATC squadron are going on a gliding camp at the Golden Downs on the 19 and 20 March. I will tell you about it when I get back. Tips on flying a glider?

I believe it is south of Wakefield, which is about 30 minutes out of Nelson.

Back after a very tiring weekend. Gliding was great, rather than having a towplane we were launched by slingshot at a great speed. I got to fly most of the time, although not landing!

By slingshot do you mean a winch?

My dad used to launch his model gliders with a long bungy cord, long before people were tying them to their legs and jumping off bridges.
