Great shots there Michael. Those Top Gun F-16s were going to be ours once! The USN snapped them up when we cancelled the contract back in 2002.
Got any photos of ATAC's A-4s"?

Thanks again for sharing- i love the blue-camo scheme on the jets. What type of equipment do you use to get these shots?

Great photos, and as Don said those F-16B could have been 'ours'! Good to see the USN is still getting plenty of use out of the 'MiG 28s'. ;D

Great photos!
I thought the Top Gun School was at NAS Mirimar. Did it move? Where is Fallon? It looks a lot colder than the desert in Top Gun the film.

It looks like the Queer Eye team have designed the F-16 colour schemes! ;D Well, according to the Fighter Fling 2004 guys, there was a bit of Queer Eye inspiration on "Channel 18 - Hornet Eye for the Fighter Guy". Maybe Channel 16 isn't any better? ;D

Thank you for the belated comments guys, we've been having internet trouble here.
I didn't realise these were the planned RNZAF F-16s, thought they eventually got shipped to Pakistan.
Afraid I've got no shots of any other ATAC birds, this was the only one present the day we went and arrived in the morning, then departed after the early afternoon launch.
I can assure you it certainly was cold, the ramp temperature was somewhere in the region of -10C if I remember corrently. One of my lenses certainly wasn't too happy about that and was giving me grief.
Any requests for the next batch of photos? (UK show/base is your best bet)
Regards,
Michael

Pakistan got the rest of their F-16s in 2007 but the USN refused to give these ones back - said they were too good and perfect for the job they were doing! Would have been perfect for us too! They would have been the best dogfighters in the world having the lightest F-16 airframe with the most powerful engine. Sigh... what might have been
