Given all the cutbacks the RNZAF has suffered maybe Beeching is the appropriate term (a reference to Dr. Beeching who slashed and burned Britain's railways in a massive cutback scheme a few decades ago). I'll go away now... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Brilliant Nah - stick around - we like you

Along the lines of the MEPT and EEZ patrolling the USAF is looking at cutting its 42 MC12 Liberty ISR aircraft. These are the Beech B350ER fitted out for ISR. If the aircraft haven't been thrashed and are in good nick then we could get them cheap second hand. All we may have to do us fit a surface search radar. We keep the ISR capability and that extends NZDF capability. It's not costing us anything extra for it and it'd be stupid to ask to have it removed. www.defensenews.com/article/20120....uts?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|FRONTPAGE|s

Heard yesterday that most of 42SQN pilots were up in Scandanavia somewhere training for the new King Airs. I thought the new ones were B200's still and therefore why would they require training for the same type and definately WHY? would they have to go to Scandanavia?
Info from a 42SQN pilot who delivered one of the old B200's back to Lessor at Hamilton.

I understand the panel is different and so probably some different procedures to learn, at a guess the appropriate simulator is in Scandanavia.

Only 2 of the Aeromotive guys got jobs with Hawker Pacific at 42 Sqn. It almost seems that only non-new zealanders got jobs. Kinda makes you think!

I for one am surprised there aren'y more King Airs doing the rounds in NZ, its the perfect fit for NZ, its fast enough, carries a good payload and is as rugged as a brick out-house. You can get the old girl in and out of most of the tarmac in NZ as well as fair few grass ones as well, the PT6 being reverse flow is pretty FOD resistant, and the airframe is multi-purpose. The only thing with it is its a stretch to get to OZ with any decent payload..but who wants to go to Oz anyway?

Is it an optical illusion or were the blue and white portions of the fin-flash on these aircraft slightly wider than the red portion? Nte too that one has the Squadron badge on the tail and the other doesn't.

So three or more have been removed from operation with the RNZAF but none of the "new" aircraft have entered service, what gives?
Two in the Hawkers hangar at Ardmore allocated ZK prefixes (normal procedure prior RNZAF serials) and two in the Hawkers hangar at Sydney/Bankstown weather VH prefixes.
