Yep I agree with you, most likely to be NZ2539. Looks like NZ2505 was a spare aircraft in storage going by the remains of tape or simialr round all the opening like cowl flaps etc and the fact she hasn't had the later stripe tug scheme applied.. Thanks for that Baz and Shorty for the confirmation. Oh if only I had the $$$$$$. I would love to restore her in that scheme.

Hi Baz
There has been talk of trying to activate a NZ Auster club again. Paul Morrison is the NZ 'guy' for the IAC, I know he is keen to organise a fly in.........we might have to bring ours on trailers though.
When I was passing through Mandeville and saw the Croyden guys, there was discussions about seeing an Auster fly in there maybe next year.
Just been cleaning up some Auster bits in the garage, but my hands locked up with the cold and my nose was dripping in my kerosine rocket fuel mix! Belynda brought me a cuppa coffee in and it went cold in minuites.......not snowing yet, but cant be far away.....brrrrr
Cheers Anthony

I strongly suspect that the two Avengers are at Te Kuiti. Looking at some black and white prints, it appears that target tug colours varied somewhat. Due to film properties, it is difficult to confirm that the aircraft were silver or yellow overall.

An Auster - you "lucky" blighter.
Many noisy hours ahead of you (and that's before you get her back in the air.....)

The real test of Mrs Baz will be when the bits from your garage make their way into the lounge! Personally, having met her, and read her comments from time to time on here, I think she's up for it ! Wifey has been 'suggesting' for quite some time that Baz needs an Auster... and I think the lounge is safe from invading aircraft bits - Baz won't want to contaminate them with Dalmatian hair

You had better not complain about the dalamatian as the pair of you may end up sharing the dog box, especially when you exceed the monthly budget.

Baz, I reckon you should modify it to have long spindly undercarriage legs and paint it as a Fiesler Storch. That would look cool, and it might get you into some airshow attack scenes too. ;D

I'm with Dave, I've always loved lookalikes, and there are far too many stock Austers in this country as it is! ;-)
I am so happy to see another "lost and neglected" aircraft make a new home, and doubly happy to see such an enthusiast become her new custodian! I look forward to getting downthere sometime, perhaps make it a "working holiday" if you would like some help :-)

(For Anthony's benefit) Just figured out the Auster codes. J-Series: J is for Jaunty. T-series: T is for Trouble (even has 7 letters) We had a txt flame a few days ago and he tried J for Jalopy and F for Flop. But he has to be nice to me now since I have spare parts heh heh heh. No offence, but with those short wings and the block of iron in the back of the fuse [did they have that ,like a J1?] Dont have to think too hard to figure out the 'F', in J5F ! Congratulations ,anyway. 50 years ago I went to work for Peter Lacy at Nelson, and one of my first jobs was a J5F . Cant remember the rego.maybe BBU?]-----It had just come off an overhaul, and Derek Erskine the C.F.I. had taken it for a test flight, rolled it upside down and the battery fell out through the rear glass and into the bay. Couldnt find a replacement window ,but they found a new one from a topdressing J1, with the head bumps and gave me that to fit. Trouble was the J5 was about 2 inches wider.and I had to cut the canopy right down the center and made an aluminium channel to fill the gap. It was all approved ,and could be still flying!!!----Good luck

Anthony is worried that I shall be passing him in his T7 and was heard muttering about supercharger mods and such like. ;D Yeah a Storch would be cool but it has to be the real deal people!! ;D ;D Yeah Zac once I'm all settled in and need an extra pair of hands you would be most welcome.

"Pitts S2 Pattern"... yeah right! for a start there are 3 of them - including a nosewheel fairing, they are far too big and look nothing like Pitts Spats!

Bring it on Bruce bring it on! ;D Well a positive outcome at the bank not only are the mad buggers lending me the money it only adds one month to my mortgage completion date. That's the good thing having not much left to pay off! Next week the money will appear as if by magic and then head right on out again and the financial side of buying BBZ will be complete!
