Reading an interesting book by a Kiwi in the LRDG [Long Range Desert Group]...
Not exactly RNZAF but there was a Waco used to liaison with some of the groups and it seems these were flown by various New Zealand private pilots that were in the LRDG.
One name mentioned is FT Barker, doesn't say where in NZ he was from.

That's jolly interesting. So they were civilians? The LRDG was a great unit and I think more needs to be done in NZ to preserve their memory, such as a feature film based on the facts of the NZérs operating in the unit. I never knew they had an aerial element to the LRDG though.

I don´t think civilians is correct. They were army soldiers. By the way the New Zealand squadron of the LRDG was probably the first NZ unit that received parachute training. This was after the end of the desert war.
