Wow, It's either really good photo-shopping, or they need a longer runway.

No, its real alright. St Marteen is known for it's spectacular approaches... If you don't believe me, here's one of a DC-3 !!!

Somewhere I've seen pics of an Air France 747 at a similar height over a similar beach - would that be St Marteen or is the runway too short for that? the DC3 pic reminds me of the story that in the 1950s a farmer neighbouring a busy RAF base complained that the local Gloster Javelins were low flying and shaking the house to pieces. the Adjutant expressed concern but couldnt do anything unless they could get the serial number. A few days later the farmer rang up again, and advised that although they couldnt get a number they could read "Trestle Here" -was that any help? !!!

Good grief, no wonder they come in so damned low, look at the runway! I cannot believe a 747 can land there, near alone the DC3. How did they get planning permission? www.airliners.net/open.file/725829/M/

That looks seriously dangerous. All you need is one drunk idiot on the beach to kick the ball too high and BOOM, blown engine on finals. Imagine the noise too! I hope this place is for budget holidays only.

Looks almost as short as Wellington! I like the sign in the foreground of the A340 pic - "Blast can cause physical injury!" (and everyone is standing underneith the plane)

Somewhere on the 'net, I watched some video footage of idiots hanging onto the boundary fence behind jets that were taking off from this airport; and they were flapping around like grandmother's bloomers hanging on the clothesline in a breeze!
