Well, I mean, a lot of them are bloody dreamers, in their own little world.

I don't care who reads it, I said on the thread itself it's pie in the sky. My opinion. Many there who i have respect for agree with me.
My opinion has nothing to do with NZ at all. The dreamers need to have a huge reality check and actually listen to the experienced aircraft builders there on the thread who have told them how massively difficult the project will be. The People's Mosquito idea of "hey folks, fund our project from the ground up without even an airframe to start with" is a total joke, they need at least US$20 million from the public throwing coins in a bucket just for a rebuild once they have found the airframe to start with; and the all new "easier" metal version idea is moreso laughable. As I said on that thread they'd be better off throwing their money towards Glyn's project and actually see it go into something that will fly in our lifetimes.

Hi Dave, I actually agree with you on that point, but that's not what I was referring to.
Any more pictures from your visits to the Mozzie workshops?

A"Metal Mosquito"?? - Wow, that sounds really absurd! -Reminds me of a ridiculous debate I read on a certain well-known 'American' warbird forum awhile back; "What if the 8th Air Force had had Mosquitoes"; -the idea being that they should have been furnished with heaps of them...! And after all the abuse and derision they had cast in previous discussions on the Mossie, compared to their 'metal marvels' like P-38s, P-61s, A-26s etc... [They called it the 'Borer-Bomber!'] -It still didn't matter how many facts & figures I had put forward on the Mosquito's Operational History and capabilities; - Plus the fact the US had actually asked and received around 250-odd Mosquitoes during WW2, for their recce work with Elliot Roosevelt's American contingent... [Their P-38 recce variant wasn't as versatile...] The Mosquito is unique & remarkable because it IS made of wood... The Best New Mosquito is simply a new wooden one, restored, period!

Great photos of the Mossies, I have a soft spot for them thanks to conversations with one of my all time favourite RSA patrons, Ian Ritchie. He flew night intruder missions and had some amazing stories to tell. He also owed his life to the wooden construction as he was badly shot up on his way home one night, when he saw the damage in the light of day he realised why his normally wonderful to handle plane had been an utter pig. I heard later from someone else that everyone assumed he would be awarded the DFC for getting the plane & his navigator home but he had been forced to land at the nearest airfield rather than his home base. The commanding officer there expected Ian to be debriefed once he returned home, his commanding officer assumed Ian had already been debriefed... no official report filed, no medal. Not that I think Ian cared about that, a very modest man who enjoyed a whisky & a chat with the barmaid, I just wish I'd been able to do that more often.

I have no recollection of removing that thread that you speak of, nor of discussing it with other moderators. How long ago was this?
I also have no problem with you linking to their site. I am friends with the guys restoring the Mosquito, they are also forum members/users, and we are happy to support and promote their efforts.
