Working out? As the ad says you can get ripped in 4 weeks. The all new Iroquois exercise system. Comes with a steak knife and another Iroquois if you call now. Silly Joe - how could a Huey ever compete with an Ab-Circle Pro??? ;D

I love those photos ykato, some of your best Iroquois shots yet in my opinion. I'm no helicopter fan but the Huey is a great machine. Cheers.

Ain't nothing like a Huey, looking forward to the new choppers but will be sad to see these go, when are they due for retirement another year or two isn't it?
I', sure I've read on this forum that the air force may keep at least two going for a while after retirement or am I mistaken?

An old friend of mine was stationed in Singapore when the RNZAF had a Iroquois Detachment based there. Seems there was a regular friday night competition to see how much rotor torque you could hold before you got flung by the blade. I seem to recall a figure as high as 44% torque, the real problem being to remember to drop flat on the ground as the other half of the rotor came around quick and the disc was still tilted down to the front from when the competitor was holding the blade.... Ah the old days before OSH and PC bollocks came in.... Good old fashioned after work drinks and shenanigans

Are you serious? That sounds like bigtime misappropriation and bloody dangerous.

When I was on 3 Sqn in 1985 it was an open competition as to who could hold the blade the longest (although not officially encouraged!). I saw people lifted off the ground by it! Even so there was plenty of time from releasing it to getting out of the way of the following blade as it was quite slow even at that engine RPM (the transmission had a slipping clutch). The person holding the blade also had to check for fire in the engine bay after releasing the blade so you walked straight in towards the nose to do the fire sniff check after releasing the blade.
Having seen the A109 and how low the blades are to the ground I wouldn't be doing that with it!
