Simply awesome!
I loved the 1987 airshow footage, I'd never seen any film form that show before. Interesting how similar it was to last week's 75th Airshow with Mustand ZK-TAF, Red Checkers, No. 40 Squadron Boeing, Hornet, people lining up to look in a Hercules, etc, and yet it still seemed another era, a more glorious one perhaps.

Gribbles did the Cranwell thing in 1981-82. You would have to imagine it was intended for him to use that knowledge somewhere. Not at all sure beyond that though.

That name brings back memories. Col Rippey was the pilot on my Skyhawk Flight (Mid 70's). Night flare bombing over Volkner Island. I threw up.
CC Lee was the pilot on my Strikemaster flight. Gunnery and Bombing over Raumai Range. I threw up on that flight also. (I discovered that my stomach muscles are strong enough to re-cycle Macaroni Cheese whilst pulling 5.5 G!)
Armourers got all the interesting rides.
As an aside my aging memory tells me that Col Rippey overstressed a Strikemaster by pulling 9 G.

Shit, 9 G in a Blunty must have been pretty intense.
The macaroni story made me laugh!
