Probably not pertinent for RNZAF but a friend of mine, who is now a Qantas 747 1st Officer, used to fly A4Gs at Nowra. One day he was on a sortie with his OC, got an engine-fire indication and punched out.
The ac/c blew up and crashed near Braidwood NSW in 01/71. N13-155051. Code 870. LT Turbine failure was the cause.
He plummeted down through the trees slightly injured. An RAAF Iroquois lited him out at full extension of its winch rope and he was in a hospital bed in 15 minutes. Colin is his first name.
Personal discussions with Colin and ref to Stewart Wilson's "The Phantom, Hornet and Skyhawk in Australian Service".

Cheers for the info, and welcome to the forum. I'd be interested in a copy if it's doable.

Perhaps an easier way for poor barnsey, who i think is going to get inundated with requests, is perhaps if you can convert it to video I'll put it onto the upcoming second forum video which will then circulate around the membership and people can copy if they want to. Just a thought.

Hey that is really good news. I'm sure the final DVD will sell very well once it is released. It will also be a great tribute to Muz.

Taken on 8 Sep 2000 by Neville Dawson. That's me flying 55 with Boomer in the back doing some filming for a TV show (Dream Jobs).

Thanks for posting those photos Barnsey - they are excellent. I really love that one of you and Boomer low level in 55. If you have a link where I can go to to download more of them please let me know. These are just the sort of photos I want to use in the book. Does the copyright on them belong to Neville Dawson? Cheers Don

www.airliners.net/open.file?id=0728275And this was how it ended!! No so thick that you can't see the wingman, however. We had launched on a weather forecast that didn't have any holding requirements, but as you can see in some of the shots there's a solid undercast forming. We did an IMC penetration to low level off the East Coast and did the low level shots down through Cook Straight and back up the west. North of Paraparamumu we got the call that Ohakea had gone Red (Weather below approach minimums - at OH this was lower than ILS Cat II - really bad!). Luckly we had some gas to hold in the overhead for 20 or so minutes, before flying pairs ILS approaches down to the minima.

I agree!! Nothing like snotting along at 50 feet in close formation.
I got the first photo from his photo bucket account. He had posted a whole bunch of Afganistan photos on PPrune and I recognised the name, and I lucked in and found that one. I had downloaded the other pictures previously, but re-found them for the above posts.
I've modified some of the links to his Airliners.net photos to show his copyright. Doesn't the RNZAF own the copyright on photos taken of its assets (and burning its fuel!)?

Cheers Don Don, Mike Jorgoson has some nice shots at www.airliners.net. He may let you use his pic's, he let me use some of his on the A-4 Alley. There is also a couple a really old ones there that people haven't seen. Suggest all interested check them out. Here's one www.airliners.net/open.file/0141403/M/Airliners don't like hotlinking to there site (hence the banners some will see in the threads above. But if you go to the airliners, goto advanced search, Under airline scroll right down and choose New Zealand (Not far from the truth ;D ;D ). Category, is military aircraft, in the keyword choose skyhawk. As for the other pic's Barsney posted, I've found Kiwi neds Albums on photobucket s54.photobucket.com/albums/g100/KiwiNed/?start=alland s54.photobucket.com/albums/g100/KiwiNed/Heli%20Ops/Some nice pics there
