I recently bought (via download) a few of the Strike Fighters 2 titles, and I am having an absolute blast with them. They hark back to the survey sims of the good old days, like the Janes series - not super high fidelity or the best looking games, but they run well on my machine and are full of fun, especially if you like the Cold War era. They are very open and there is no DRM, which means there are a lot of great free add ons out there. Which brings me to the point of this post: I downloaded this model a couple of nights ago, and by combining a few of the markings with the official DLC A4K I am now able to tool around Central Europe bringing pain to Warsaw Pact tankers and deliver maritime strikes on communist battle groups off the coast of Iceland: The only drawback with the model here is that it uses an inaccurate cockpit for the Kahu upgrade, but if you can look past that it is worthwhile looking into.

Awesome! That sounds very tempting. I've heard - and seen - very good things about the Strike Fighters games, and to be honest this Kahu looks better than the payware one I've seen for Microsoft FSX.
How much, and where? I love the idea of flying a Kahu in action.

It's a bit of an investment just to get a Kahu Skyhawk, but here goes: You need to go to the Third Wire online store and get Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam and Israel. That's where you get the stock Skyhawk from, and the Kifir cockpit for the Kahu pit (as I said, you'll need to look past that). Then you download the comprehensive kiwi Skyhawk pack from CombatAce here (you'll need to create an account): combatace.com/files/file/11719-new-zealand-a-4k-skyhawk-pack-for-sf2-re-dux-major-update-140211/If you want to tool around Europe you'll need to get Strike Fighters 2 Europe as well, but there are also other terrains created by users (including NZ I think) that you can get from CombatAce if you did not want to shell out for another game.

Having problems getting the combat ace site. Keeps coming back "Can't find the server". Bugger. Anyway found the A4K at the Third Wire DLC & US$4.99 Guess I'll have to buy the Srtike Fighters 2 for Europe first and drop the A4K into that and go terrorise some Warsaw Tanks. I'll get around to getting the expansion pack later after all am only a poor student

Ditto, ngatimozart! Unfortunately getting on top of car troubles - more expensive to fix than the initial purchase - and debt means my Kahu training will have to wait a while, but $4.99 for the add-on sounds great! Please post some screenies when you can, I'd love to see more.
My dream is someone will/has created NZ scenery for us to tear around and perhaps shoot at, eg the weapons ranges, foreign-flagged fishing vessels ;-)

Hi guys, have a son who is aviation mad and when ever we are in nelson for Motox I have to shell out a small fortune for him to go to Simpit and fly Super-Hornets! What sortve system is needed to use a simulator such as this Strike-fighters sim....guessing I need more than Vaio lap-top that Im using right now I run my games on a PC desktop with a joystick. These are system requirements for Strike Fighters 2 from Thirdwire. System Requirements OS: Windows 7/Vista (does not run on Windows XP or older) Processor: Dual Core 2.0 GHz Memory: 4.0 GB RAM Hard Drive: 4.0 GB free space Video Card: 256 MB DirectX 10I would suggest that they would be the minimum requirements. My PC is three years old, has a quad core & 8GB of RAM and runs the 64bit Windows 7 OS. I found it cheaper and more viable to have a custom built one than buy one off the shelf. By having it custom built it was completely uptodate. Because I use high end mapping and imaging software I actually had a gamers setup built. The joystick I use is an old MS Sidewinder. My aim is one day to get an F16 style throttle and stick system plus foot rudder controls. If you already have a PC that dosn't meet the requirements you need and it is not a Dell or HP, you may be able to upgrade it by just buying the bits needed such as the dual core processor, video card extra RAM etc. Check it out because that is another cost effective option. Good luck.
