That's an astounding attitude. Sorry to hear that mate! You cannot turn your back on history, especially such recent and important history. Some people had a pretty damn good go at it!

Yes, we can't have the chaps mentioning anything that might make the shinybums in Wellington nervous!
Planespotter Time: I noticed that the aircraft designation on NZ6257 is painted as "TA4-K" and not "TA-4K".

Don't worry, I got my own back....
I designed the montage that ws used for the 2004 Ohakea open day advertising.
This was based on a background of an aerial shot of base taken from the 3 sqn flightline side, with Iroquois on the flight line. Over the top I layered various images of people at work, aircraft etc, and gave the background a blue colour. It was originally designed to be used at about 300x200 pixles as an image on the Ohakea intranet site, but the PIO thought it was also ideal for the very large open day sign to be placed on SH1 by the Museum, as well as all the smaller posters put up around the Manawatu.
The funny thing was that on the day the aerial photo was taken, ACFDU were flying a Skyhawk from AMS flightline, and so there was a very small A4 in the photo that I had carefully avoided covering with any of the layers on top. Just my little joke since at 300x200 pixles on a computer screen it was pretty much invisible. However it was not nearly as invisible on a 2.5 meters sign! Quite a few people noticed it too....
The sign was re-used for the open day this year as well, but I'm not sure if they covered up the A4 with writing.
The photographers managed to get a macchi on the front cover of the airforce news either last year or the year before. It was actually a picture of an aviation refueler doing a hot refuel on an Iroquois, but right at the top of the photo, just above the words AIR FORCE NEWS is a little black macchi shape flying overhead.

I noticed that Skyhawk at the time and wondered if it was there 'accidentally on purpose'. Nice work Phil! ;D
