There is currently no P3K or frigate in the Gulf as far as I know, altho there is a rumour that a P3K may go back to support "Operation Enduring Freedom"...

Here is another large formation of strike aircraft - nine Skyhawks and eight Strikemasters on the cover of the December 1974 issue of New Zealand Wings. Sorry the scan is poor, i didn't do it. The magazing doesn't explain the reason for the formation, it just says it was the largest RNZAF jet formation for the past ten years  |

Further to the above Wings cover I found inside the magazine there is an explanation. Eight Skyhawks were returning from deployment to Singapore, while eight Strikemasters were returning from a deployment to Auckland. The ninth Skyhawk joined the mass formation as a camera plane.
