I'm so sorry for giving the wrong info, I was only off hear say as l've lost alot tab data/ files, rare books etc in my last defence removal.
My last 2 CO's wouldn't let me head off to Puka to do Bushmaster Drivers, Crew Commander and the Plt/ Troop Cdr's Cse in case I went back to the black maffia, but when I given a chance to Crew Command on the odd Ex I grab it with both hands and would've made Tricky, Big Hoff, Little Hoff, Jim Dawson, Johnny Sincock, Dave Harrison and few others that were my mentors/ DS at the Sqn or the School Armour smile.
Ah the the good times.
PS I think its my round to buy the drinks for my cock up for giving out the wrong info.

I noticed your thread while looking on-line for info on my aunt, Marie Elsie Isabel INNES, who was a sergeant in the WAACs when she died in France on 7 Oct 1945. Marie was the elder daughter of Lt Col VJ and Mrs MA INNES of Karori Wellington, and she was returning from Egypt (where she had been serving) to London, when the plane went down. My mother Yolande Elizabeth Lyell INNES was Marie's younger sister. She served as a VAD on hospital ships in Singapore and later in Japan, with the Occupation Forces, and later still with International Red Cross in occupied Germany (where she met my dad who was a Capt in the Queens Bays (tanks) and with the BOAR). So the other Marie Innes was no immediate relation. I have an aerogram letter at home written by Lady Fergusson to my grand parents, expressing her condolences & sympathy. My mother told me that the plane went down at Rennes because it was overloaded, but it was probably a combination of load and fuel, and of course, the weather conditions. And I should perhaps add that my mother who died 1998, was fiercely proud of her active service, and it was always a point of honour for her to have faced enemy fire, while on active service. Thank you to Errol and Dave for the information you have provided. Regards, Richard
