Only two months to go (18th, 19th, 20th January).
I've got a rostered long-weekend off (Friday-Saturday-Sunday-Monday) this time, so no need to take a day off work and I'll probably be there over all three days.
Fingers crossed for the weather....we don't want a repeat of last time.

Odds are Sam and I will be there, possibly with a friend.
I look forward to the participant list!

Rare Mosquito confirmed for airshowA one-of-a-kind Mosquito fighter bomber will take to the skies next year to headline the Wings Over Wairarapa airshow.
The de Havilland Mosquito has been confirmed for the January show, where it will take pride of place as the feature display aircraft.
Originally built in Canada in 1945, the aircraft is the only one of its kind currently flying.
Airshow director Tom Williams said securing the Mosquito was a major coup for the event.
"The Mosquito was one of the fastest operational aircraft in World War II and the only one to be constructed almost entirely of wood.
''Its significance to World War II history is not to be underestimated.''
The Mosquito - nicknamed ''The Wooden Wonder'' - first flew in November 1940, and was faster than the Spitfire with a top speed faster than 600kmh.
Its versatility meant it was used in daytime tactical bombing, high-altitude night bombing, and photo reconnaissance.
''The legendary Mosquito has a fond place in the hearts of Australian and New Zealand airmen, with about 250 aircraft being built in Australia during the war,'' Mr Williams said.
The Mosquito is owned by American Jerry Yagen, and took seven years to rebuild at Ardmore Aerodrome.
It will line up alongside 12 other de Havilland aircraft at the event, including an early World War II biplane, a DH5, and a Vampire Jet.
More than 70 aircraft in total will be shown.
The biennial airshow will be held at Masterton's Hood Aerodrome at Wellington Anniversary Weekend, January 18 to 20, 2013.

I actually heard something unofficially from one of the local taxi-drivers a few weeks ago.
His father flew Lancaster bombers in WWII so he is very interested in aviation, and went up to Ardmore for the inaugural Mosquito display.
He told me a few weeks ago that he had picked up Nick Rogers from the Air NZ link flight from Auckland to Masterton airport (Nick is the CEO of Tui Brewery), and while in the cab, Nick was on his mobile phone to somebody discussing Tui sponsoring the Mosquito appearing at the Wings over Wairarapa airshow. Tui are one of the major sponsors of the airshow.
I've kept quiet about it up until now, because you know how rumours can sometimes turn out to be not 100% true, but now the cat is out of the bag.

this is quite an achievenment for the Wings Over Wairarapa airshow organisers. This ofcourse has been in the planning stages for some time.Though it was not untill a decision had been made by the owner in the last few days or so whether the aircraft was going to be avaliable for the show. What an airshow it will be!

WoW is a very good show usually, and easier to get to than Wanaka. We were going anyway...but now! WOW!

I might have to go down and stay with my brother at Martinborough - another chance to see KA114 again, and everything else on show...

Now all we need is for a particular FW190 to pop across Cook Strait to Hood for the duration of Wellington Anniversary Weekend and things will be absolutely as perfect as it is possible to be. Hood aerial treasures head over the strait to Classic Fighters, so fair is fair!

If we are talking practical (as opposed to plausible), perfect would have the Hurricane there too! PERFECT would be a Kiwi or a syndicate of Kiwis purchasing the Hurricane and basing it at Hood Aerodrome, sharing hangar space with the P-40 and Corsair. ;D

I would have to politely disagree. The Hurricane would be better off based at Ardmore Joe

I've seen this said several times in the past couple of months regarding Ardmore, Campbridge and Now Masterton: "The Mosquito's last display in NZ... Yeah Right!"
