Which reminds me, when Dave and I were talking with Warren the other week, I asked about the weight and balance with the replica weapons. He said that they are considerably lighter than real ones, the cannons are about at the centre of gavity, and previous operators had considerable ballast in the tail, so they will be able to adjust to take into account the MGs.

After all these years of watching it progress, she's tantalisingly close to being finished now, I think being in the final paintscheme will make a big difference to how "complete" it looks!

Are the two Merlin's exactly identical? Or are there parts on one engine that the other doesn't?

Are the two Merlin's exactly identical? Or are there parts on one engine that the other doesn't? Hi Mr.Orion If you are talking just the Merlins, then the two Merlins (Merlin 25's in this case) are identical. The only component that the Port Merlin has fitted that the Starboard Merlin does not have is the pneumatic system compressor and its associated case oil drain pipes. If you are talking installations, then there are a few differences with the coolant and oil pipe work plus a few other system bits and bobs that make them handed.

BUGGER !!! Almost went out there yesterday, a very good friend of mine trained with Warren in the airforce. He really wanted to catch up as he has not seen him since he left the RNZAF.
But with a sick child and all couldnt make it.... It still would have been tight though as he had to fly back to the UK as he is a pilot for B.A. now. And starts work again on Sunday.
Apart from that awesome pics and what a symphony of engineering and pleasure to the eye. ;D

There is an interesting story (with picture) published in the print edition of today's Dominion Post newspaper.
I cannot find the story on their website though. It may be elsewhere on the STUFF website.
