Some great photos are currently coming out on various threads so I reckon it's time to have a dedicated sticky thread for RNZAF P-40 Kittyhawks and Warhawks. Some seen recently in the Wartime Aircraft With Nose Art and Nicknames thread - most if not all are originally RNZAF Official, thus credit to Air Force Museum of New Zealand: Gloria Lyon and Erica (Doug Clark Collection) No. 4 Servicing Unit P-40's (Doug Clark Collection) Next three from Brendon Deere. P-40's of No. 14 Squadron at Whenuapai P-40's flown home by No. 19 Squadron at Waipapakauri And some from the ESMA LEE thread: (photos from Allan Watson's collection) Gloria Lyons crashed (via Kerry Foster)

Some from the album of Noel Hanna of No. 14 Squadron: This info is taken from David Duxbury on Reply #129/130 on this thread: This is No. 14 Squadron at Torokina, on their third operational tour, period January - March 1944 in front of a P-40N. They arrived at Torokina on 10th and 11th February, on operations 12th Feb to 26th March. Nine of the squadron pilots ferried up a simliar number of new P40Ns, rest travelled up by air transport (with chauffeur!) You can spot the CO (Stan Quill) in middle row (centre), flanked by his two flight commanders (F/Ls L R (Lou or "Snow") Renolds, and E H (Errol) Brown). The Intelligence Officer in this case was P/O P W Blundell. Other pilots were: F/Os E L ("Butch") Avery, W M (Mort) Bullen, R A (Rex) Weber, W J (John) Polson, G S Treweek (killed on tour, 13/2/44, aerial collision), P (Pat) Molloy, W J McLeod, D W Cocks, R G (Ron) Bush, B S Hay, P S Tennent, N A Frew. P/Os D W (Doug) Robertson, N C (Neale) Sutherland. F/Sgt N E (Noel) Hanna (to P/O during tour - that's him back row second from right.) Sgts R A Barnett, H P Crump, G George, R P George, R F Howe, W D Smith, L C Strawbridge. At time this picture taken, E H Brown had been grounded sick just before end of tour, but is still in photo. Butch Avery was sent home sick on 29/1/44, so probably not in photo. Normal strength of a fighter squadron at this time was 27 pilots (six sections of four pilots each, plus 3 "spares"), and one intelligence officer. I should be able to provide names for everybody in this photo - does anybody else have a named print?

Superb stuff Marcus, thaks for posting these. It is always neat to see other shots from photoshoots where there's usually only one or two famous shots seen everywhere.
The shot of the Rukuhia aircraft where one has a perfect US roundel on the wing, ie like it was never overpainted like the others, is very interesting.
Marcus did you get my message from a couple of months back regarding the other chap with another collection of Leo White photos? I never heard back from you. He was keen to hear from you.

NZ3038 I hope the pilot was ok. The 2 OTU pilot, Fg Off Patrick Arthur Bull, was indeed OK and uninjured. He was also commended for his action in carrying out a forced landing when his engine, starved of fuel, caught fire in the air due to a broken connecting rod which broke the sump, on 13 Oct 1943.
