No worries at all. It's good to see that unusual colour scheme come to prominence again.

I don't think I have posted this before, but this is Harvard NZ958 in lovely camouflage colours during the middle part of the war I'd think. I'm not certain which unit it was then attached to but it was possibly No. 20 (AC) Squadron at RNZAF Station Onerahi or perhaps the Air Gunners School at RNZAF Station Gisborne, or maybe it was at Whenuapai? That is the units that Tim Murray served at before he departed overseas as an Air Gunner on No. 1 (BR) Squadron. He's seen here on the right, and the guy on the left was also in 20 (AC) Squadron, which means he probably also served in the same subsequent units as the AG's all seemed to go that way when that squadron was disbanded.

Excellent shot Dave! Looks like a very nice scheme indeed, I'd love to see it replicated on a flying machine.

That is awesome to see bombs on NZ1015 like that! Have any Harvards in NZ now, static or airworthy, got bomb racks fitted? I know a few still have guns.

That photo of NZ1015 might have been taken on the day of the retirement of the Harvard in RNZAF service in 1977. I don't think she flew her display like that but I do recall photos of her with bombs on. And it certainly looks like Wigram (there's even a Devon in the background)

NZ 1025 A friend of mine had a picture of NZ 1025 in 1950's garb. As soon as I can get back into photobucket I will post it. Thus far I have not seen 1025 mentioned anywhere in this thread. Anybody know the history of that one?

This is circa 1960, scanned from a faded wall print, so the yellow is not too flash.

I am amazed than NZ1009 came up with all this history on NZ 1025 so rapidly for us to enjoy. Much appreciated.

Really nice photos posted by oj and nzav8a - thanks. A little more on NZ1025. NZ1025 31-May 1943 Palmerston North Retracted undercarriage NZ1025 11-Jan 1944 Ohakea Hit cable, low flying NZ1025 18-Nov 1951 Helensville Hit power lines The accident occured during a Warbirds Roaring Forties aerobatic team training session over Ardmore on 25 Feb. 1990. The last manoeuvre was a downwards bomb burst from a box formation with NZ1025 in the number 4 (slot) position. The following is from "New Zealand Tragedies - Aviation" by John King: NZ1025 " was slightly out of position at the top of the loop leading into the bomb burst and overcorrected when repositioning so that it was closer than usual to the leader when the call to break came. Delaying the 180 degree roll until passing the vertical, NZ1025 was rolled 90 degrees to the left but at that stage some nose-up elevator control was applied so the aircraft started a barrel roll instead of a roll along the axis of its fuselage. That took it past number 3 while still rolling and pitching up towards the horizontal, and NZ1025's starboard tailplane was knocked off by number 3's wingtip. As NZ1025 slid underneath number 3, the propellor of number 3 slashed through the rear cockpit of NZ1025 cutting both elevator control cables and one rudder cable causing loss of control" New Zealand Wings New Zealand Wings

That was a tragic day for NZ Warbirds and the preservation scene in New Zealand to lose John Greenstreet. A very sad event indeed. He contributed such things to the secene as the import of the Sea Fury and the Trojan, I believe, and was Warbrids Vice-President at the time form memory. We'll not forget him.
It is interesting to see that NZ1025 had a trroubled history right from the start.

NZ1034 at Ohakea in the late 1980's when it was being given an external change to look like a MkII Harvard. We installed long exhaust, different pitot head, external venturis and a light on the base of the rudder - plus the yellow paint. It was then flown in aC130 direct from Ohakea to Point Cook in Australia as a gift for the Australian Bicentennical celebrations.

Interesting photos. The only memebr of the 1968-1969 team I have is John Lanham. So those other four fill some gaps.
The 1969-70 team were
Flt Lt Larry Olsen - Red 1 Flt Lt John Hosie - Red 2 Flt Graeme Goldsmith - Red 3 Flt Lt Douglas Lloyd - Red 4 Flt Lt John Lanham - Red 5
So that gives you most first names and ranks too. Not sure who Peters was though.
