The first photo is probably the 68/ 69 team. Interesting that the chequered cowls have the call number on the front -not the usual aircraft number.

Nice photo of ZK-ENE there. What became of that aircraft? I belive this was the other aircraft in the collision in 1990, wasn't it? The colour scheme it wore then is neat, and intriguing. Is it based on a genuine wartime scheme of any sort I wonder. It later went into dark blue US Navy colours from memory.

ENE has been for sale for some time, and I believe I last saw her one the ground near a Southair (?) tent, still for sale.

It was owned by Alpine Fighter Collection for a time, wasn't it?
I wonder if the US Navy scheme has a New Zealand (Fleet Air Arm) connection?

Hi to all. Here's a couple more, as I have just received another parcel of photos from the Dave Wilson Collection via Anthony Galbraith. Also some more added to the Mustang thread! Cheers, Pete M.

Some really nice photos have been uploaded to this thread. Really like the colour ones above and also the one of 1023/1027 just uploaded. Brilliant - there must be heaps more out there in private collections. A couple more, presumably RNZAF Museum, not so good quality but interesting I think. Still trying to figure out how this happened? Pretty obvious how this one occured.

Dave, I've often admired your sig photo without knowing where it came from. I sort of assumed it was a couple of warbird harvards but obviously not so. However it was colourised it was very well done, a different background though it seems. I've a lot to learn about Wartime RNZAF camo & markings especially home based stuff but it surprised me to read the histories of this pair & see that they were still in type A roundels while serving with 21 sqdrn in 1943. Yes, I colourised the photo and added a different background, for the hell of it. All was about 90 minutes work while watching television at the same time one night.

Sometimes they come togetehr real easy, other times it takes many hours. The bigger and sahrper the original is, the better by the way. Tiny or blurry ones are no good at all.
