Was a tiring week by the end of it, long days early nights and no alcohol makes for better results I find. Can be a dull week until getting home and looking through the photos :-)

bloody top shot would I be right in saying you spent some time in the middle of the airfield, looking back at the crowd, but having any sun behind you taking photos

My non-avgeek partner walked into the the room just after I saw the 'double-purple' shot, and said "Ooh?" (in reaction to me). "Nice!"

Thanks Dave! I really admire the pilots who fly these WW1 aircraft, they always put on a good display. This year to mark 100 years since the start of WW1, the six aircraft flew a mock dogfight over Lake Wanaka on Good Friday evening- a very exciting, yet moving event. Here is a photo of the Allied trio of Airco DH. 5, Bristol Fighter and Sopwith Triplane from the Friday evening.
Nick.

I love this photo and not just because it is an Avenger and an awesome shot of one. My Dad's cousin flew TBFs in the Pacific with the RNZAF (a fact I sadly didn't find out until after he had long passed). The family connection then followed with my Uncle in the Army AA unit in the early 50s taking potshots at one of our target tug Avengers at Godley head!(At the drogue of course not the Avenger ) he was amazed to find out one was now on display at the Air Force museum. And continuing my family connection (although on my wife Teresa's side) she is flown here by Jim Rankin a relation of my father in law! So including my involvement with NZ2504, Avengers keep on cropping up in our family history!!

So what you're saying Baz is you need to ditch the Auster and buy an Avenger!

Dave if I had the money I really would! I'd paint her up in the target tug yellow and black stripes too, certainly be hard to miss!

Yuck. I'm not a fan of the target tug colours. I'd personally go with a wartime scheme, probably the one with the kiwi nose art where he has wings taped on his own stubby wings.

Or the wartime target tug colours with the yellow tail now you can't go yuck at that!
