Welcome Chris. Have you got any good photos you can share on the forum? I'm sure all the RNZAF Photogs must have heaps of great shots they'd be proud to share.

Two I recall from the 80s/90s overlap are Justine Piper (married Bob Beck?) and a sumpie re-tread who went photog when I was based Woody, Craig O'Dwyer. Shall have to sift thru the diaries.
regards
**edit - it WAS 'Beck'! thnx

Thanks for the welcome Dave. Yes, I do have plenty of photos from that time. I was at Ohakea during a golden era of photogs getting to fly fairly regularly in the mid 80s, and with a cast-iron stomach for flying I was lucky enough to shoot the air-to-airs of the gold 50th Anniversary TA4K, Kiwi Red under the command of Frank Sharp, the first Euro 1 camo scheme flown by Jim Jennings when he was CO 2 Squadron, amongst other amazing flights. Flew also in that huge formation of A4s, F18s, Mirages and Strikemasters that was put up for the 50th Anniversary flypast at Ohakea. Don Simms used several of my images in his wonderful book. The ultimate use for them as many had never been published or printed (one of Kiwi Red attached below). I can sort a few out and post up. Where would be the best location on the forum to do this? Cheers. Attachments:

Welcome Chris. You took the best air-to-airs of the Skyhawks I have ever seen. I'm glad we were able to use many of them in the book!

He met Justine when we were all posted to Ohakea after CIT in 1988. We called her "Jug". I ran into then both at the Ohakea airshow last year. Great to see they are still together.

That is a smashing photo Chris! Really awesome!
The best place would be in the Postwar RNZAF section please.

I would have been happy to just hang out at Ohakea for years and continue to photograph the Skyhawks but alas that's not how the Air Force works. Got posted to Navy after senior course! Has the book sold ok? Did you do a second print run?

Flickr is free for up to 200 photos. I'm happy to answer questions about using it. Probably best covered in the 'How to...' thread (note I'm busy tonight and most of tomorrow).

Test post of images... Sqn Ldr Jim Jennings, CO 2 Squadron, flying A4K 6202 carrying full ordnance load northeast of Waiouru, November 1985. This image from the flight was made into a poster. Pity the AIM-9s weren't the real deal. 02 on the 75 Squadron flightline just prior to the flight. Couple of days later we flew with a different load-out. Jim Jennings flying 02 and Wg Cdr John Lanham (OC Strike Wing) flying the camera ship. Euro-1 scheme worked pretty well over this terrain. Colour balance of the image file looks a bit yellow though. If I remember correctly this is 02 just out of the paint shop. This photo is another story entirely... Now that I've got the hang of stringing images together and placing comments I'll get organised and start a separate thread with my images. Hopefully within the next few days.

We were only about 2 metres apart, wingtip to wingtip. Taken on a Pentax 6x7 with a standard 90mm lens. We were repositioning south towards Waiouru to start a photo run back towards the north for the best sun angle. This was a chance shot that turned out to be one of my favourites.

That is a fantastic shot Chris! Up close and personal!
I have always found Photobucket fine. They ahve the odd hickup now and then but what free programs don't?

Not sure whether there is much difference to Flickr or not? Is there any downside to Photobucket? Photobucket appears to be in the process of forcing people into using a few format, which changes the url format of stored photos. As of a couple of weeks ago, the new format is not compatible with the forum software in use here. Sent via Proboards Android App
