Thanks for those Baz. Have you not been taught to never touch a prop in case it's live? Basic safety rule in the RNZAF mate. You need glasses then as I'm not touching it.

An interesting aircraft, this LT-6G Texan, N4269P. Built in a batch of eleven, a T-6G-NF 51-17355, c/n 195-2. It was remanufactured as a forward air control LT-6G presumably for Korea as 51-17354 is still there in a museum. With two other survivors N4269P was purchased from Portugal by AD Medore in 1981. It passed to AT Gemellaro and then B & M Hunn LLC of Mesa, Arizona in September 1994.
With some searching various site on the web, I can find any information on these aircraft being in Portugal. Found plenty of others. Any ideas.

Some great photos of the Rude Chickens in action... Love the mirror flying, wasn't quick enough to get any shots of that.

Super photos there Colin. I note Colin Henderson has the fire extinguisher with him, was that part of the act or was he worried about a real fire I wonder? I love the sequence of photos from the Anson vs Bf108 dogfight and aftermath.
Great shots of the Gold Pass crowd. I was amazed how many of the people in there had Aussie accents, they must make up a considerable proportion of the patronage I'd think. A truly international contingent.
Something I just realised is the Fw190 had no droptank in these photos but it was wearing the tank on the Sunday.

It was so damned good to see the two No. 14 Squadron jets together like that, did the orginal ZK-VNM ever fly with a Blunty like that back in the olden days?
It would have been cool if the P-40E and Corsair had joined in the formation, both being ex-No. 14 Squadron aircraft too.

Perhaps the extinguisher is a precaution for the smoke maker, if any residue left it may ignite without the air rushing past like in flight? I am just guessing and hope someone can answer. Some of the Aussies were part of a tour group so that is good to see them all coming over to enjoy the Classic Fighters shows. The exchange rate is in their favour. I still have quite a few more to go through from the Saturday. On Sunday as soon as it started to rain I left for Christchurch as we had an early start on the Monday travelling to Queenstown by car. I will post more as I edit them. Colin

I recall seeing photos of a fire in the cowl region on the BF108 at the Tauranga (?) airshow when it was on the ground after a similar air display so I wondered if there was an issue.

It looked as though he was genuinely concerned about a fire ( as you say , it has happened before ) . It seemed ( to me anyway ) as though he wasnt sure if the " farmers " gesturing was part of the act , or a real warning of a problem . Better safe than sorry .
