Dave for all the guys where you have no details it might be worth putting a thread on www.rootschat.com/forum in their New Zealand section/military section. Spades in the NZ bit is brilliant at ferreting out information

I'm slowly getting there bit by bit as I place requests up here. Errol Martyn has been fantastic and other people have also offered info. So I'll keep putting requests up here and on the all new Wings Over Cambridge Facebook page. Then I might look at the rootschat thing when these avenues are exhausted.

Can't help with a lot of the information you ask but can tell you that he was in a Hind that struck power lines over the Pohangina River near Ashurst, Palmerston Nth. on 21 Nov. 1942. The Hind, NZ1544 was piloted by P/O H.H.Souter and crashed and burned on the riverbed. The report lists Caley as AC1, photographer with the Photographic Section RNZAF Station Milson. Caley received minor injuries in the crash.

Thanks Jim, yes I have this info on his page already. Interestingly Harold Souter, the pilot, also came from Cambridge! I wonder if they'd known each other from before the war. Souter was later killed in the Pacific.
