Hi everyone,
I have a general idea of what people really enjoy most from the many and varying topics that the WONZ Show covers, from the feedback that I receive from certain topics. But here's a chance for you to select the topics that you'd most like to hear more of. Please cast your votes, you can vote up to seven themes. Thanks.

Dave, I would love to hear more about TVAL. It still amazes me that we have an aircraft manufacturer in NZ that is the only one in the world producing WW1 aircraft as its sole function. And not only aircraft, but re-creating authentic engines for them as well. I've trawled the net trying to find how it all began, but information seems scant. I know Peter Jackson is behind it all, but when did it start, what parts are made in Wellington as opposed to Masterton, what are the future plans, and where the hell ARE those mock lancasters? And what are these planes like to fly, how long does it take to become safe and proficient? Does Sir Peter do interviews? How about Gene?
Also, I know the names of a lot of the pilots who display WW1 and WW2 aircraft, thanks mainly to this forum and Gavin Conroy’s Facebook photos, but I don't know how they came to be display pilots, or what their flying training was, and more importantly what their least and most favourite aircraft are, and do they miss the Mosquito as much as I do? I think Liz Needham may be unique in being one of this small group of elite pilots world-wide, and this in itself should be celebrated with an interview.
I haven't heard all of your interviews yet, so forgive me you have already covered any of the above.

Pete, TVAL may be a bit tricky to get an interview with, but I'd love to do that and it's already on my long list of hopeful ideas.
Regarding display pilots, this is also an area I plan to get more interviews in. I have a few lined up for future interviews, so watch this space, when I can get the time and money to travel and meet them.

To be honest Dave, I've not yet listened to many of them, I do intend to, and although I only chose 7 categories, that wouldn't stop me listening to any that fit into other categories. I'll download them and listen to them on the bus in and out of work. As has been said elsewhere, this is an invaluable resource, which will be realised in years to come.

Thanks Sparrow. Yes, agreed that they are all of interest in varying degrees, I am trying to gauges the most popular topics of all so limited it to seven of the options. Even I would have liked to have ticked a couple more, but I prioritised my top seven themes.

Despite the fact that of the show's hundreds of listeners, only 15 people have taken a few seconds out of their time to cast their votes, it seems reasonably clear now which direction that I need to steer the show. The votes thus far show that the most interesting topics to the populace are - in most popular at the top and descending as we go down - thus:
Warbird Restoration Interviews/Topics (13 votes, 15.1%) Ex-RNZAF Personnel Interviews (10 votes, 11.6%) Warbird Pilots or Owner Interviews (9 votes, 10.4%) Blokes in Sheds Restoration/Innovation (8 votes, 9.3%) WWII Veteran Interviews (7 votes, 8.1%) Historian Interviews (7 votes, 8.1%) Aviation Museum Interviews (7 votes, 8.1%) Agricultural Aviation Interviews (5 votes, 5.8%) Airshow and Air Event Coverage (4 votes, 4.6%) Current RNZAF Personnel Interviews (4 votes, 4.6%) Profiles on specific Aircraft (like the Lancaster) (3 votes, 3.4%) Sport Aviation and Homebuild Interviews (2 votes, 2.3%) General Aviation Interviews (1 vote, 1.1%) Aviation Photographer or Filmmaker Interviews (1 vote, 1.1%) Modeller Interviews (1 vote, 1.1%) Continuing series on a topic (1 vote, 1.1%) Aviation Author Interviews (1 vote, 1.1%) Gliding Interviews (1 vote, 1.1%) Aviation Politics (1 vote, 1.1%)
And there seems to be no interest in the following topics: Airline related Interviews Flying School Interviews Aero Club Interviews Aviation Industry Interviews Youth in Aviation, or Air Training Corps Parachuting Interviews Ballooning
In an interesting twist I think all those topics with 4 or more votes are the type of stories I would most have liked to have steered the show towards anyway. There are the odd exceptions. I am working on a rather interesting airline related story at the moment for example, plus I have two or three modelling related interviews lined up but it seems few will be interested in them anyway.
If these results don't reflect the way you feel, vote yourself and have your opinion heard. If they do say what you are thinking, vote too and reinforce the voice of the people who are helping me plan for future interviews.

Dave I like the new format. However I've looked through the list and after a bit of a think perhaps i mght suggest that a topic in a lighter more humerous vein could also be made available . Reason being that in the "early days" each Mess had a Line Book in which various tales could be included and written up for posterity . ( I would dearly love to get my hands on the Hobsonville and Laucala Bay ones!) You might title it "Line Shooting" or something similarv . Many of the entries were of course highly suspect as to their accuracy but it was great fun unless you were the named one in which it was a case of reluctantly withdrawing from ones wallet sufficient funds to cover a "shout" to those present :-( All these stories are now being lost at a great rate and only at reunions do they surface . Just a suggestion . Keep up the great work Eng

I certainly recall that many sections had very active line books too. When I was working at the Parachute Bay at Whenuapai the Line Book seemed to be getting added to all the time.
I love the idea Eng, however I think it may be very hard for me to turn such an idea into an audio show. Firsat I'd need to somehow locate some line books and then I'd have to find people who were there at the time to give some context to what was written. The line books I've seen are often a bit cryptic, only those who were there at the time have full knowledge of what was being written about.
I would love to have the opportuniuty to interview you and record some of the wonderul humourous stories of times gone by. When are you next over in Cambridge? I seem to recall you said you visit old Tick Tock every now and then. He's just a few blocks from me.

Yes Dave I see your point and I guess some of those comments would have to be taken in context and the back ground explained which somewhat clouds the story . Oh well we'll just have to think of something else !!! :-) I dont venture south of the Bombay hills now and its ages since ive seen T/Tock. Say hello from me .Why dont you come up and visit the Matakohe Kauri Museum sometime Regards Eng

I had a line book going at the Museum at Wigram Dave as apart from actual work going on there was a lot of laughs over a cuppa at break time. There was even a couple of photos in it, including George Jaunzemis (now known as Peter Thomas) having the mickey taken out of him. Maybe it might be better as a thread and fortunately nothing is too cryptic!

I don't get up to Northland very often, it's a long way when you don't drive. I'd love to get up there and have a look around a few places though, like Waipapakauri, Ninety Mile beach and a return to Paihia. Some day.... A tour of your museum sounds great too. Thanks! I'll PM my address to you Eng.

Baz, I was so fond of the Line Book idea that I'd remembered from my RNZAF days that I introduced it into my best mate's home garage bar, and any hilarious lines that happen to come out in the bar invariably go into the Line Book. My civvie friends liked and embraced the idea. It makes for some very funny reading indeed. Great memories.
