Metvuw's 7-Day forecast indicates at this stage that the weather might be a bit crap, sadly.

Fingers crossed hoping that high pressure in the Tasman decides to holiday over the North Island on Queens Birthday weekend.

Have the Aerobat booked, so I can fly in - weather permitting.
Must see Leo P to arrange to park the plane at AAC.

Has anyone seen an AIP supplement or NOTAM about the event? I Cant seem to find anything... I was thinking of bringing the Adventurer up, but I am really concerned about when the final display is scheduled to finish and airspace open again since it may be marginal to get back to Te Kowhai with sufficient daylight at this time of year. It will depend a lot on the weather too as if its a westerly wind I'll be landing back with the sun in my eyes on final.

Looking quite hopeful for Sunday! Carpark could be muddy, however. Good time for me to get a photo taken in my forum T-shirt. No chance of getting NH799 wheeled over then?

The weather outlook now looks great. Unfortunately my plans to get there have fallen through, several options for getting a iift up there have evaporated. I was planning to record a WONZ Show at the event but this is now not going to happen sadly, unless I can find a last minute way to get up and back tomorrow.
The buses are hopeless, Intercity has none and Naked Bus doesn't stop anywhere near to Ardmore, the closest is Manukau, and there's no bus service from there to Ardmore at all. Plus I'd arrive at 6.30am at Manukau (leaving here around 4.20am!!), sod that.

Not sure that Doug's Spitfire will be there, tested the field at Drury today, unfortunately it sank up to the axels a couple of times and we had to lift it out of the mud, no easy job, Gavin decided not to attempt a take off today, hopefully the field dries out in the next couple of days.

Thanks Leo, That was what I was afraid of. I'll give the flying a miss this time. You could always fly up for the first two display slots (10:30am and 12:30pm) and then start for home before the field gets closed for the 2:30pm display.

A reasonably good day, after a somewhat shakey start. Some pics from the beginning of the show. Nice to see the Beech G17S out and about.

Overall a great day, the weather was pretty much perfect with light winds all day and a reasonably high overcast to stop it getting too bright. I did feel this show was a little bit lighter on the "warbirds" than usual - the Spitfire of course wasn't there and the (real) P-51 also didn't fly, but I guess we've been spoiled recently with the Mosquito and Anson and so forth. On the other hand there were a few aircraft displayed we haven't seen at the Warbirds open days in the past such as the Staggerwing and the two Titan Mustangs from Tauranga, which put on a good display. It seemed well attended though - I decided to hold off on the photos this time and actually watch the displays from a vantage point not behind a camera lens for once, but I did take this one of the parking area outside the aero club which shows how many people were there!

Most enjoyable display was the Dominie ZK-AKU. Nice to see it flying up here in Auckland. I understand it brought up a few interested folk from TG. Did'nt stay for the final display .Stans Smith's Fox Moth, another favourite doing joyrides in between display slots.

If anyone has photos of the Fox Moth flight that took off at 4:05pm and landed at 4:15pm, I'd be most grateful.
