A couple of my friends have been for flights in it already - I might give it a go but I prefer not to pay for this sort of thing unless there's a chance to actually fly it myself...

A group of us are organizing an outing.
We have been quoted $150:00 ea for a one hour deal that includes about half an hour flying with splash and cruise.
(Not quite sure yet what that last bit actually means!)

The SuperGoldCard (aka the Winston Card) for free travel only works on commuter services, not on tourist-type services. Thus it is valid for Auckland harbour ferrys, but not on Auckland harbour cruises.
After all these years, I must say that for all his faults Winston is the first politician that has ever actually done something for me.
Mind you, I also now have a Government department that actually listens to me - the GCSB.

For those who are interested, Chris Sattler says that Radio NZ recorded an interview with Auckland Seaplanes yesterday and they will broadcast it next Wednesday (5th Feb) at 3:30pm

They should name a card after Winston, they could call it the "all smoke and mirrors" card, he is an absolute master at creating quite a lot of publicity and position out of nothing, and then delivering nothing. I do like a few of his ideas though, in particular, any immigrant not prepared to adopt our culture, laws and way of life...f off, this countries full!

I have an email from Chris Sattler: "We have been asked to bring the Beaver to the Catalina ramp in Hobsonville for their next farmers market next Saturday and Sunday. Just wondering if there is any interest from members to fly either from town to Hobsonville with a ferry back later in the day or from Hobsonville to town and then ferry back. We could offer that at 120 pp including the ferry trip. Thanks for letting me know and I will still have to get clearance from the base but apparently Hobsonville land company has asked already... See you soon! Chris" Anyone interested? Contact me asap.

Some of us Catalina guys are doing the Sunday flight there & back 1st thing and last thing so that probably only leaves Saturday (unless he's going to run a number of ferry flights there:) !). Of course they will be doing "jollies" on site

. . . alighting . . .
Not a recommended procedure to 'land' in a floatplane.

Yesterday, Saturday 8th March, saw the first seaplane arrival at Hobsonville since the cessation of Sunderland operations in April 1967. Auckland Seaplane's Beaver ZK-AMA circuited overhead Hobsonville before alighting a little further down the harbour Taxiing up past the moored yachts and arriving at the historic Hobsonville seaplane ramp Auckland Seaplanes CEO Chris Sattler looks very pleased with the success of the operation Well done team!
