I didn't know there were so many in NZ (3 at this event alone!). I had seen a deep blue coloured one in the past, about 1985, had a hand crank high speed flywheel to start her. A lovely sunny day makes for nice pics!

Certainly a great scene in Tauranga these days. And yes, the Boeing Stearman is one of the GREAT classics in my book. As a basic/primary trainer, at least the Americans got the feel of a big round engine straight off. Must have been closer to the feel of a Texan and maybe an easier transition, than say from DH82a to Harvard? Certainly there's a Stearman in my Lotto Hangar!
