Terrific shots planecrazy! Looks like most of the island turned up to see the Herc - or maybe grab some gas. 😉 Is that a windsock on the island in the lagoon? Is that to get a better idea of wind direction away from the mountains?

Hot off the press the Herc broke down, still on the ramp, more soon...... Terrific shots planecrazy! Looks like most of the island turned up to see the Herc - or maybe grab some gas. 😉 Is that a windsock on the island in the lagoon? Is that to get a better idea of wind direction away from the mountains? Thanks McMaster, it's always a bit of an event when the Herc's show up. You realise how isolated you are when a Herc flies in gas cylinders due to a flood over 600klms away, we are all very grateful for the powers that be! Yeah the windsock is for the northern approach over the lagoon also a bit of initially put there a for the flying boats, surfers and kite surfers love it as well! Couple of oldies.

So yesterday’s Herc had an APU fail couldn’t get her started so she overnighted. I’m sure someone here will fill me in on what the below devices do? Have no idea, I’m going with reversing lights, camera and maybe some sort of defensive sensors? Rescue Herc came in with repair parts and starter pack to get her sorted. Always harsh light late in the afternoon so tried a different angle, nice to get the prop vortices.

It just so happens that -447 was the machine which performed at the Saturday Wings Over Wairarapa show earlier this year! Nice to see her again but sorry to read of her troubles.

Sadly just missed a CT4 VH-LAH Kerri Kerri to Lord Howe Island fuel and go To Coolangatta, bit rusty after a long time of minimal visitors, anyone have a picture of her? Hope she wasn't in military markings as in a warbird?

Google says VH-LAH is a Sikorsky helicopter.

I saw ZK-PTD out in the open at Tauranga Airport last week so you thought may well be right.

VH-PVD Is due at 1234 (AEST) from Kerikeri.
Also departing was Cessna 208, ZK-JMP to Norfolk Island, so it might be Lord Howe later on?
