Here is an example of how good Gopro's can be with good... make that great editing. This is the result of many hours of effort on the editing suit with hours of donated footage. One of the first outings was doing a retrieve of Mike's glider out of a border dyked paddock down beyond Ashburton. He has been gliding for a while ! No novice that is for sure. Great video. I watched another gliding video on YouTube just the other day. Soaring along the southern coastline in England. Different scenery but the pilot was having just as much fun.

This is the culmination of many hours of video. The footage I took over a 3 hour flight was compressed into about 5 seconds. I was disappointed that the footage I took of a very surprised chamois in the Two Thumb Range was not usable.

Hi Paul, I took that as Mike being in the back holding the camera stick. We now have a couple of forum members involved in the editing and production. Gliding is unlike power flying, it is a true group exercise. With it's own little social scene. There is much the PPL guys miss out on. Gliding is so much more fun. There must be some great footage about. I know Tony Collins did a mini-production on one of the Omarama Xmas camps some years back now. Have a look at Matt Wright from the Devon area. He uses a GoPro and builds his own mounts for his ASW-24..his videos are on YouTube under his username Balleka

There are plenty of videos around of gliding, however most are like watching paint dry. Here is quite a good one filmed from Mt Hutt. And a photo from the glider (only on my cellphone, sorry)  |
